Sources of Water Pollution
• Municipal:
- Waste water from homes and commercial
properties
• Industrial:
- Oil spills
- Waste discharge from manufacturing plants
• Agricultural:
- Pesticides

Possible Effects of Water Pollution
• Cancer
• Skin diseases
• Diarrhea
• Death

What Can We Do to Reduce Water
Pollution?
• Properly dispose of pet waste, when
walking your pet
• Reduce/eliminate the use of herbicides,
fertilizers and pesticides on your lawn/farm
• Maintain your vehicle, to prevent leaks
from running off into groundwater
• Avoid using salt to de-ice walkways
• Maintain septic system, to prevent leaks
and contamination to ground water
