Section 1: How to Select a Cx Provider
A. What to consider when selecting a Cx provider
B. Recommended provider qualifications by project
size/complexity:
• New Building: Abbreviated, Standard, Complex
• Existing Building
C. Information on available certifications

Recommended Provider Quals: New Building Cx
CP
Qualifications
1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent
hands-on field experience regarding:
a. Building System Commissioning including design
review, construction observation, system testing, and
post-occupancy evaluations;
b. Building system performance and interaction with a
focus on the building automation control systems;
c. Common installation, maintenance and operational
pitfalls for the commissioned systems;
d. The building design and construction process
2. Experience troubleshooting commissioned systems
3. CP for at least two (2) other commissioning projects
of a similar nature
4. Contractually, the CP should be able to provide an
objective and unbiased point of view. If the CP will be
from the owner or the contractor's company, they
should not hold other responsibilities related to this
project.

CP Qualifications
(Retrocommissioning)
1. Current technical knowledge and extensive recent hands-on field
experience equal to that of a Professional Engineer regarding:
a. Building Retrocommissioning including functional testing,
diagnostics, trending, energy calculations, and implementing
improvements
b. Building system performance and interaction with a focus on the
building automation control systems;
c. Common installation, maintenance and operational pitfalls for the
commissioned systems;
2. Five years experience troubleshooting commissioned systems;
3. CP for at least two (2) other commissioning projects of a similar
nature
4. Experience in related fields, such as design, construction, and
building operations a plus
