The University Act (645/1997) was amended on July 2004 and will come into force
on August 1, 2005
Adoption of a system of easily readable and comparable degrees, Diploma
Supplement, and the ECTS
1 August 2005, adaptation of the two-tier degree system, normally (3+2) and the
ECTS
ECTS and Diploma Supplement already used in international student
mobility schemes
Universities have a statutory duty to issue a DS to the student on request

Aleksanteri Institute coordinates a national Master's degree programme
in Russian and East European studies
Thirteen Finnish universities form the network for 150 participants in the
Masters’ Programme 2003
Offers a separate study module, which can be integrated into a degree
programme
Is controlled by the Executive Board representing all member
universities

Aim: Joint degree (masters´ programme of 120 ECTS)
