Questions and Answers
Riva’s mandate since 2008
• Overcome the challenges and limitations of client-side CRM sync
• Create the world’s first and best synchronisation platform to allow CRM
data sync from multiple CRMs to your collaboration platform - using a
server-side solution
• To simplify CRM rollouts and increase user adoption based on reliability,
scalability, security and simplicity
• Allow Enterprise customers to deploy their multi-thousand-user CRM
implementations without having to install client plug-ins, install mobile
apps or otherwise “touch” user desktops or mobile devices
• To allow SMB clients to benefit from the same advanced server-side sync
solution as enterprise customers
Challenges and limitations of client-side plug-ins for data sync
•

•
Plug-ins don’t support CRM data sync from Citrix or Terminal Services desktops
Syncing CRM data with client plug-ins causes the client to slow down and become unusable
Frequent upgrades to clients, CRM, desktops, and email clients cause continuous churn in
installation, training and support issues
High technical requirements and desktop rights for installation and configuration
High cost of training and retraining users on how to use the plug-ins – with the different features
supported or not supported across new versions
Increased security risk – users must be logged into their desktop and email client 24 hours a day for
the client-side sync to occur
Decreased user adoption because of unreliable information caused by users not knowing whether
the sync has taken place or a desktop was rebooted due to an automated security patch
Little or no support for custom fields or custom objects
Environmentally unfriendly – desktops have to be running 24 hours a day to sync the data. Increased
electrical and HVAC costs

Riva’s 2014 mandate
To continue to deliver on our 2008 mandate to
provide customers with the best server-side CRM
data sync experience.
Enhance our customers’ CRM sync success by
providing the best client-side experience - without
suffering the challenges related to client-based
options to sync CRM data.
Riva clients asked us to…
…enhance Riva’s server-side CRM data sync by:
– Providing immediate visibility and direct access to relevant CRM data without
leaving Outlook or IBM Notes client
• Appointments, opportunities, interactions, custom fields and custom objects
– Allowing users to relate and assign emails and appointments to specific CRM
contacts, opportunities, cases, quotes, custom objects, etc.
– Allowing users to log a call and take notes and have them be related in CRM
against specific contacts, opportunities, cases, quotes, customer objects, etc.
They also asked for…
– Access to relevant non-CRM-based information about contacts
and accounts
• local time, temperature in home city, local holidays, …
– Direct access to relevant contact and account information from
social, public and third-party data enrichment sources
– A single side panel to view data from multiple targets
– Decreased complexity
– Fewer support and client challenges that traditional client plugins
Introducing Riva Insight - not your average client-side plug-in
Riva Insight provides the advantages of a client-side
enhancement without suffering from the CRM data sync
problems of the traditional Outlook / Notes plug-in
Riva Insight delivers:
• The industry’s first server-side, centrally managed and
controlled client plug-in
• Direct access to data from CRM and the multiple targets
• The ability to provide relevant CRM and third-party information
to users based on their roles in the company
• The ability to expand Riva Insight’s real-time access to CRM and
data from multiple sources
