 At present the Hight of Temple is 111 feet with 108 pillars
 Reconstruct in 11 A.D.
 Altutmish pulled this temple down in 1235 A.D.
 Reconstruction of the present temple structure was done at the instance of
Ramchandra Baba Shenvi, a subedar of Malwa under Ranoji Scindia.
 Ujjain used to be centre point of the calculation of the Indian time (in the past
the ujjain is the Greenwich of India) and Mahakala was considered as the
distinctive presiding deity of Ujjain
 The lingam at the Mahakal is believed to be swayambhu (born of itself),
deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other
images and lingams which are ritually established and invested with mantrashakti.
 The temple is three storied 1- Shree Mahakaleshwar 2- Shree Omkareshwar
3- Nagchandreshwar on the third storey is open for darshan only on the day of
Nagpanchami

Ujjain with great joy and draw attendance of lakhs of
people.
