Coordination Challenges/Issues to Note
• Limited Capacity to implement at all levels
• Conflicting policy frameworks
• Programme financing( 80%partner resourcesDomestic resources)
• Coordination at all levels-national, AU bodies
&Nat/AU bodies
• Monitoring of programmes at all levels &
across institutions. Impt. of RCM, Min. bodies
Coordination Challenges/Issues to
Note
• Coordination/engagement with NEPAD
national structures
• Communication-slow response time
• Programming Consistency/Span of interestPlanning &investment for results-Focus on
execution
• Alignment of support to regional and national
priorities
Points for Reflection
RECs and National Structures are important for
delivery of NEPAD programmes:
• There is strong commitment by the Africa’s Political leaders to
the NEPAD Agenda. What are the responsibilities of the RECs
and National NEPAD structures to ensure this commitment
continues and it’s fulfilled?
• There was a high rate of adoption of AU/NEPAD Policy
Frameworks. How can National Structures ensure that
NEPAD is mainstreamed into national development
programmes/plans.
Reflections
• Regional integration is a strategic objective of NEPAD. How
can the RECs and National Structures support
implementation and monitoring of Multi-national
programmes.
• What enabling conditions/ incentives would encourage better
inter-ministerial coordination at national level/ and with
regional & continental bodies to encourage all to contribute
and commit to the NEPAD Agenda. Coordination at all levels
and between levels.
