Local Rules


Curfew (11:00p.m.)
You will be participating in a very intensive language
program. You should be spending a lot of time
studying, not drinking, playing video games, etc.
Furthermore, places we will be staying at are
facilities for students and trainees. Therefore, you
must observe our curfew. If you break this rule, you
lose your meal subsidy and will be reported to Dean
of Students. If you break this rule twice, you will be
asked to withdraw from LBAT (and return to Atlanta).
Alcohol
The legal drinking age in Japan is 20. If you get a
hang over or cannot show up in time for classes and
field trips, due to late night drinking, we consider that
you are not interested in participating in LBAT any
more. We will report it to Dean of Students as well.
More Local Rules

Bath & Shower time
In the dormitory of APU (Ritsumeikan Asia
Pacific University) the hours you can take a
bath (or shower) is limited.

Others (Common sense courtesy rules)
When you go to Japan on the LBAT program,
keep in mind that you are representing
Georgia Tech. Our school will be judged on
the basis of your behavior. Behave well. Do
not touch a fire alarm or a fire extinguisher
unless in an emergency. Do not make loud
noises in public places. Being considerate to
others is very important in Japan.

We will meet in front of the bus information desk
inside International Arrival Lobby at Fukuoka airport
at 9:10p.m. on Wed., May 7. Since will take the last
bus to Beppu, make sure to arrive at our
rendezvous point on time. If you are not there (for
whatever reason), we will leave there without you.
If you are flying to Fukuoka from Narita (New Tokyo
International) airport, the last flight you can take to
catch this last bus (to Beppu) is ANA (All Nippon
Airways) 2143 leaving Narita at 5:45p.m. (Please
note that the airline schedule may change.)

You are responsible for obtaining your own plane
tickets. When you book and purchase Japanese
domestic flights, you can get substantial discounts,
using Visit Japan program. To take advantage of
this program, you must send your proof of
residence (copy of your driver’s license) and the
ticket number of your international flight your travel
agent.

When we move from Beppu to Tokyo, we will be
traveling together on the same flight. Make sure
book and purchase a ticket on our designated flight.
We are currently planning to take the 12:05 flight
(JAL 1786) from Oita airport to Haneda (Tokyo)
airport. (Again the airline schedule is subject to
change.) We will let you know the exact flight
number by the end of Feb., 2008.

If you are planning to travel in Japan, using JR pass,
after the LBAT program, you must purchase it
before you leave the U.S. Ask your travel agent.
