• Does not include ASC, NDA, GSF, MDO • 491 Abstracts submitted – 182 Structures – 184 Dynamics – 100 Materials – 16 Design Engineering – 9 Survivability

Structures Submissions

• 182 total abstract submittals – Includes 24 submitted for 4 special session topics sponsored by Structures TC – 229 abstracts last year (Ah, Hawaii!) • 179 submitted for review (3 empty uploads) – 544 reviews requested • As of 9/27 at 12:35 pm MDT – 85% (461) reviews completed

Conference Planning

• Anthony Waas, SDM technical chair, has projected an acceptance rate of 86% – Projects 154 structures papers – 25-28 sessions, including special sessions • Fall planning meeting is Monday, 10/8 in Schaumberg, IL at conference hotel – Need 100% reviews completed by 10/2 to support session planning prior to fall planning meeting – Last email reminder to delinquent reviewers sent Thursday, 9/27 – Abstracts lacking reviews will be reassigned starting Saturday, 9/29 – Reviews due Tuesday, 10/2

Review Selection Criterion

• Used recommended scoring: – 5 = Strongly Recommend – 4 = Recommend – 3 = Average – 1 = Reject – 0 = Strongly Reject • Despite asking, some reviewers still used revise selection – Revise converted to strongly reject • Some reviewers also did not enter scores, saying that the abstract was outside of their expertise area – Requires reassignment of about 10 reviews – Reassignments will happen Saturday 9/29 – Reviews Due Tuesday 10/2

• Keep in touch with your authors – Email them introducing yourself – Encourage them to contact you with questions and status updates • Particularly regarding withdrawals • Remind them of upcoming deadlines – 1 month prior to manuscript upload – 1 week prior to manuscript upload • Remind them of no paper/no podium rule • Remind them to attend speaker’s breakfast on the day of your session and to bring a short bio
