The Rat Pack was originally
formed in 1955 by Humphrey
Bogart
The name that he originally
gave them was the “Homby
Hills Rat Pack” because they
were always hanging out with
each other
This was supposed to be an
informal men’s group that
would get together to drink
and gamble
After Bogart died, the Rat Pack
was left under the leadership
of the Pack Master, Frank

During the election of 1960,
the Rat Pack helped JFK win
the election
The Rat Pack held concerts to
raise money for JFK’s bid for
the presidency in 1960, most
of theses performances were
sold out
Frank Sinatra recorded a new
version of “High Hopes” which
became Kennedy’s campaign
song
Frank Sinatra was asked to
sing the “Star Spangled
Banner” during the Democratic
National Convention
Their Effect on Society
The Rat Pack helped with
the Civil Rights

The End of an Era
The Rat Pack first started to
split up in 1961 when Peter
Lawford had a falling out with
Frank Sinatra over Peter’s
brother-in-law Robert
Kennedy’s objections to
Sinatra’s Mafia connections
causing the two men to never
speak to each other again
Sammy Davis Jr. did a reunion
tour with Frank Sinatra and
Dean Martin from 1988-1989.
The tour didn’t last long due to
the fact that Dean Martin
became ill during the tour
That was the last time any one
saw the Rat Pack together
again
