UMTRI-AA Affiliate Program
Our Affiliate program focuses funding received from our Affiliates on
3 main annual research projects that look at the current and
future direction of the global automotive industry:
1. Automotive powertrains and emissions focused on
technology and regulatory/policy forecasting through our
Powertrain Strategies for the 21st Century study
2. The role of information technology in the automotive
industry through our Automotive CIO study
3. The globalization of the automotive industry based on a
focused, country level analysis of a developing or developed
market.

Automotive
Analysis
Conference Questions
• What role will diesel technologies play in the
U.S. in the near and long term? What
challenges does diesel technology face?
• Where is hybrid powertrain technology
development heading? What will be the next
innovations that will be part of the hybrid
powertrain? How, if at all, will onboard
energy management change for hybrid
vehicles?
Automotive
Analysis
Conference Questions
• What are the biggest stumbling blocks in
current battery development? How, if at all,
will different charging paradigms affect
development?
• How will CAFE increases to 50-60 mpg affect
manufacturer and supplier powertrain
strategies?
Automotive
Analysis
Conference Questions
• How will different powertrains be
represented in the new vehicle fleet over the
next 10-15 years?
• How will the cost of vehicles change because
of the need to introduce more hybrid and
electric vehicles into the fleet?
• Which manufacturers will profit from the
increased fuel economy standards and why?
Automotive
Analysis
Conference Questions
• How, if at all, will significant CAFE demands
for the 2017-2025 timeframe affect
manufacturers’ powertrain strategies for the
2012-2016 timeframe?
