Catalog
DeSoto Public Library
Use the back and forward arrows to navigate

Logging in



Go to the library’s catalog
Click on the My Account tab
at the top of the page to
bring up a menu, then click
on Log in/Register.
For the barcode, type in the
14 digit number on the
back of your library card.
For the password, type in
your pin which is the last 4
digits of the phone number
on your library account.
Catalog Homepage




Library Info - contains the
catalog homepage, library hours,
and the ask a librarian feature.
Search - contains other types of
searches you can conduct in our
catalog.
My Account - contains your
library account information such
as items out, hold requests, and
fines.
Help - answers questions about
our catalog, how to conduct
advanced searches, and account
information.
Beginning Your Search



The quick library search bar
allows you to instantly start
searching for materials
anywhere in the catalog, or by
subject, title, author, fiction, or
nonfiction.
Suggestions will appear as you
type to help aid you in your
search.
Once you search for an item, you
can further narrow down your
results by the type of item, the
publication date, target
audience, and more by clicking
more search options on the
item’s search results page.
Analyzing Your Search


In the search results, main information is
listed like the title, author, availability, and
call number which is where the item is
located in the library.
To the right of a result you can choose
from 4 options:




Where Is It - tells you where to find the
item in the library, what the call number
is, if it's checked in, and the material
type.
Full Display - gives you more information
about the item such as summaries and
holds.
Place Request - allows you to place the
item on hold if it's checked out or on
order.
Add to List - allows you to the item to
your personalized titles list
Completing Your Search
 Once you have found the item you want in the catalog, click on where is it to see where it's
located.
 If you don't know where a section is or are having trouble finding the item, one of our staff at the
information desk will be happy to help you find it.
 You can also look on the sides of the bookshelves to see what section it is. Our library is organized
as follows:



View any messages that are on your account
View your contact information and
preferences and make changes if necessary
to your address, email, or phone number.
You can also choose whether you would like
to maintain a reading list of books you've
checked out and your preferred contact
method for library notices.
Change your password
View all items you have checked out, their
due dates, and renew your items.
Requests

View items you've placed on hold, where you
are on the list, and when they come in.

Fines & Fees


Reading History


If you elect to maintain a reading history
in your preferences, you will see a
running list of books you've previously
checked out.
Saved Searches


View any fines or fees on your account
and which items they are for.
Keeps track of and saves your search
criteria so you can run a quicker search
without having to reenter your criteria
each time.
My Lists

Create personalized item lists for books
you would like to read, books in a series
or age group, and more.
Need Help?

What if the library doesn't have the item I want?



You can go to the library website or visit us in person to
suggest materials, request an Interlibrary Loan, or check
out the Texshare card program.
For more information on accessing your account or
getting a library card check out our Using the Library
page on the library website.
Ask a Librarian for help online, by phone, or in person
at the Information Desk during regular business hours.
