Two Modes of Testing Supported

 

Network Mode

MT8860B acts as Access Point (AP) or Station (STA)

 

Connects to DUT using standard signalling This is the most representative test configuration compared to normal device use Direct Mode

MT8860B acts as standard WLAN signal generator

and Transmitter analyzer Chipset vendor “control software” required to configure the DUT

Slide 15 Anritsu Confidential Information – For internal use only

MT8860B WLAN Test Set

Network Mode

Strengths

No need for chipset vendor “control software”

Test WLAN devices in “real world” conditions

Automated receiver sensitivity traces

Simplest and fastest test configuration

Weaknesses

DUT must have functional baseband

Security and Firewalls must be disabled

Network Typically Ethernet Access Point Laptop (STA) Laptop Laptop Laptop (STA) MT8860B can simulate an Access Point (AP) or Client (STA) Laptop Laptop MT8860B in an Ad-Hoc connection Slide 16 Anritsu Confidential Information – For internal use only

MT8860B WLAN Test Set

Network Mode: Receiver Testing

Provides a generic solution DUT is in STANDARD link MT8860B transmits “UNICAST” data packets and counts the acknowledgement (ACK) packets returned by DUT

PER NO REQUIREMENT for chipset vendor “control software”

Slide 17 Anritsu Confidential Information – For internal use only

MT8860B WLAN Test Set

Network Mode: Receiver Testing

  

Receiver measurements with a gold card are subject to gold card variability

 

Output power not calibrated Drift, cable, and attenuator uncertainty Experience shows that gold cards drift apart and parallel production lines will show variability

Requires regular replacement of gold cards MT8860B has calibrated and traceable output power for receiver sensitivity measurements

Delivers repeatable results across all production lines with no variation over extended time

Better quality of shipped product
