Postgraduate Initial Teacher Training Recruitment analysis and SKEs Mark Crowley Lecturer in Science Education Overview To consider • ITT allocation and recruitment during 2013-14 • ITT allocation for 2014-15 • Overview of changes SKE and the impact • Likely recruitment for 2014-15 Sources of data 2013-14 Allocations www.gov.uk/government/publications/initial-teachertraining-allocations-for-academic-year-2013-to-2014-final Main tables: SFR32/2013 2013-14 Census* www.gov.uk/government/publications/initial-teachertraining-trainee-number-census-2013-to-2014 Main tables: SFR49/2013 *Provisional recruitment to initial teacher training programmes in England in the academic year 2013 to 2014. How well did PG-ITT do overall? Secondary Allocation 16,515 SD salaried 1935 In total, 60% of SchoolHEI Direct PG 9363 allocation has been filled. 57% HEI PG SD fee Similarly 90% of HEI/EBITT 4200 allocation has been filled In total, 78% of global Secondary Census allocation has12,960 been filled SD salaried 1070 SD fee 2630 "Provider Led" 9320 But there 6% was significant over EBITT allocation in many subjects. EBITT 1017 Using percentage distribution of places, 𝜒 2 =1.956, P-value = 0.376. Null hypothesis accepted. Once… providers had [ITT] allocations confirmed on 31st Oct, they could be informed on 8th Nov that they could access funding for SKE. This was to increase their capacity to recruit from 21st Nov, when the UCAS Teacher Training application system for ITT opened.
