Achieving our mission: The EEF strategy

• • • We aim to raise the attainment of children facing disadvantage by:

Building

the evidence for what works in schools by identifying and rigorously evaluating evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning

Sharing

the evidence with schools by providing independent and accessible information through the Teaching and Learning Toolkit

Promoting

the use of evidence-based practice through our projects, events and resources such as the DIY Evaluation Guide for schools

The EEF approach

Synthesise existing evidence Evaluate projects Make grants

From early development to scale-up

Grant-making Evaluation Roll-out Identification of promising ‘leads’ ‘Product’ development & trialling Finding structures for roll out Securing widespread adoption and adaptation within ‘margin of fidelity’

Evaluation of impact and cost effectiveness determines which projects pass through the gate Many Projects Few Schools Few Projects Many Schools

Approach to evaluation

• • • A new and robust approach to evaluation in education:

Independent evaluation

All projects evaluated by a member of our panel of evaluation experts

Common outcome metrics
