In 2011 – 2012, CA VII contributed US$545,434 to LCIF As of August 27, 2012, CA VII had contributed $215,951 to One Shot, One Life: The Lions Measles Initiative We Care. We Serve. We Accomplish.

New Coordinators - MDC Packages

• Multiple District Coordinators are being shipped packages with: • 25 Contributing Member bronze ($20) pins for each Coordinator • Roles and Responsibilities brochures • Certificates of Appointment for incoming coordinators • Certificates of Appreciation and thank you letter for outgoing coordinators 14

LCIF Coordinator Resources

• Brochures, CDs, DVDs, Fundraising Reports, Contributing Member pins • Website with links to all videos, brochures and an LCIF Coordinator center containing the following: – LCIF Coordinator Calendar – Club Visit Information – Forms and Materials – LCIF Coordinator News 15

Training Webinars

Webinars will be offered in August, September and October 2012 at various times live and in a downloadable format off the website: • Roles and Responsibilities • Goal Setting • Grants and Programs • Update on Measles and other initiatives • Have specific schedule with us and you are welcome to sign up

Coordinator Role: Give LCIF Presentations

• Provide presentations to Lions: • Multiple-District Convention – Recognize Club and Individual Donors – Establish an LCIF booth to receive donations, hand out recognition pins, and provide literature • Council Meetings • Local District Governor Elect Trainings (if needed) • Include information on: • Grants received • Fundraising updates • Programs of LCIF • New initiatives of LCIF

Promote LCIF through Media

• Multiple and District publications and Website • Submit LCIF success stories and updates to your multiple or district wide publications • Recognize exceptional district or club support of LCIF • Provide fundraising progress updates to the MD Council • External public relations • Work with the District Governors to promote the work of LCIF to local media outlets (press releases, etc.) Resources available on the LCIF website • Work with your Multiple or District public relations chairperson to promote LCIF 18

Publicize the Areas of Giving

There are now four Areas of Giving from which to choose when making a contribution. • • • Donations within these four general areas are eligible for Melvin Jones Fellowship recognition More specific donations within these areas will be honored by LCIF but will not be eligible for MJF recognition (i.e. donations for Special Olympics Opening Eyes, SightFirst, Lions Quest, etc.) The Measles Initiative under Humanitarian Needs is MJF eligible Disaster Humanit arian Needs Area of Greatest Need Sight Youth 19

Use Fundraising Strategies

• Encourage Individual Giving – Melvin Jones Fellowships (MJFs) – Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowships (PMJFs) – Contributing Memberships • Encourage Club Giving – Annual Melvin Jones Fellowship donation – Recognize an individual member or community leader • Promote Club Recognition Opportunities – 100% member participation: Club banner patch and president pin • Approach Major Donors • Encourage Leo clubs to donate or fundraise on behalf of LCIF • Provide Information to Lions about Gift Planning

Fundraising Strategies: Zeiss Eyeglass Cleaning Kits

• Carl Zeiss International/Nanofilm provides a high-quality lens cleaner kit which includes: • One bottle of Zeiss lens cleaner • One microfiber lens cleaning cloth • Six Zeiss pre-moistened lens cloths • Instructions and information about LCIF • US$1.50 royalty payment to LCIF for each kit sold • Kits are available to clubs in quantities of 36 (1 Case) at a cost of US$6 in the United States and US$7 per kit internationally • Kits may be purchased via credit card or check via the website or mail

LCIF Coordinator Goal Setting

• You and your team work together to – Promote the work of LCIF – Raise funds • Have a plan – Set goals for each district with your DC team – Analyze reports – Determine which clubs to offer a presentation – Help districts with fundraising • Communicate with your team regularly regarding updates and reporting • Provide direct assistance in LCIF promotion and fundraising efforts 22

Establishing Goals in 2012-2013

• Use LCIF Reports including:  Status of Installments  Total Recap Report  MJF Listings • Set a contributions goal increase of 5-10% above an average year of contributions to LCIF

District ABC sets a goal of $30,375. This is an increase of $7,875, or 25%, from the previous year Before • 13 out of 30 clubs donate • 10 Lions become Contributing Members After • 2 new Clubs award MJFs =
