UNDERSTANDING INSULIN

Hormone produced in pancreas for getting glucose (sugar) into the cells for energy for the body When body overwhelmed by too much sugar, insulin cannot be produced fast enough to process it and the body becomes glucose-intolerant

TYPE I DIABETES

Classic form of diabetes

Traditionally diagnosed in children or young adults – usually by age 30
