Subject Selection
Students will need to do the following:
• Select three subjects
• Select a reserve subject
• Select a ‘Third Session’ subject (optional)
How should my child select
their options?
Your child needs to consider:
• Use the checklist on the back of the options booklet
• Select a wide range of subjects to keep future career
paths open
• Speak to your Tutor
• Speak to your Subject Teacher
How should my child select
their options?
Parents please listen out for:
“My friend is doing…….”
“My favourite teacher is……”
Not good reasons to select a subject!
Third Session
This provides students with the opportunity to study an
additional GCSE after school. This is offered in:
• Art and Design
• Spanish
Third session is dependent on a viable number of
students selecting this as an option in each subject
Broad and balanced curriculum
It is important that students select a range of subjects
that will enable them to access further and higher
education
When considering a broad and balanced curriculum
students may want to consider selecting a combination
of:
• A language
• An Humanities-based subject
• A Technology-based subject
• A Creative/Performing Arts-based subject
How will the options be
selected?
On Monday 2nd February in Tutor time the following
process will happen:
• Each tutor will be allocated a computer room
• Students will access the options form from Moodle
(students will need to know their Grove School email)
• Students complete online form
• Letter sent home to parents to confirm option choices
with reply slip
What results will my child get?
• Target setting in school is ambitious
• Work hard for the results you want!
