KEY BRANCH ISSUES Geoff Allister Vice President Key Branch Issues – Strategic Context Mission IHT serves the transport profession for the benefit of society and its members. Strategic Objective To provide services that meet the needs of members. IHT to provide support to members through branches. Strategic Theme Adding value to membership through networking, social and technical interaction, particularly at branch and local level. Communications with/from IHT Offices • Keeping membership details up to date – 2 way process between IHT offices and the branches. • Branches to submit their Action/Business Plans and Recruitment Plans to IHT Offices. • Membership and Branch Services Officer (Elizabeth Winters) and designated IHT staff members for Scotland (Scott Dyball), Wales (Amy Napthine) and Ireland (John Smart). Young Members (including Young Members Forum) • Young Members Committee • Links with Universities • Links with Schools Branch Mentoring and Qualifications • Qualifications to be highlighted as a benefit of IHT membership. • Branch Mentors Communications with Members • Many branches have been moving over to email only. • Email lists of undeliverable emails to IHT offices with amendments so that the central database can be updated. • ‘Update your details’ facility on the new website will help improve the situation. • Up to date lists of members for each branch can be requested at any time from Elizabeth Winters at [email protected] Links with other Branches • Branches to plan events with regard to what neighbouring branches/organisations and IHT HQ are doing to avoid a clash of dates. • Joint Meetings with neighbouring branches. Links with other Institutions • Joint Meetings and seminars • Co ordinated annual programmes Branch Resources Centre and Corporate Literature • All the Corporate Literature is being updated now and will be available via the IHT website. • The Branch Resources Centre is the first place to look when you need any branch related material. • Branch Handbook and Council Members’ Handbook being updated. • If you can’t find what you are looking for email Elizabeth Winters.
