Role of the OSD

 Academic Role: Responsibility to uphold the standards of the curriculum, technical competencies, & institutional integrity  Service Role: Responsibility to treat others with dignity, while maintaining other roles simultaneously  Legal Role: Responsibility to ensure students with documented disabilities have equal access to UC San Diego’s programs and activities in a consistent and timely manner

Classroom Accommodations

 A collaborative approach for eligible accommodations, working with faculty, Teaching Assistants, and the students with disabilities. For example:         Note-taking (ASL Notes or Peer Notes) Alternative formats Reading assignments in advance Completing in-class assignments after class Use of special furniture Tape record lectures Sign language interpreters Captioned video or other electronic information

Assistance with experiments Additional time to complete a lab Specialized furniture

Alternative Formats (anything other than standard print) Note-Taking (peer note-taking system)
