Find the right job
• Search the internet, local press, agencies and other social media
• Read the job description carefully, check if your skills match with the job
specification.
Applying for the job
• Do you need to fill in an application form or just send a Covering letter
and CV
• Tailor your CV to the job you are applying for
• CV’s should be no more than two pages, not your life history, bullet
point your tasks from your jobs
• Put your work experience in date order starting with your last job
• Don’t have working date gaps, if you were not working then list it

• Ensure you covering letter and VC does knot have spelling miss takes!!!
• If applying by e-mail, have a sensible e-mail address. Dracula666 and
flufflybunny69 are not what prospective employers want to see.
Before the interview
• When offered an interview confirm date and time
• Do your homework on the company, check their website, Facebook and
Twitter pages
• Ensure you know where the interview is being held and how long it will
take you to get there
• Have some questions prepared to ask the employer – remember you
are interviewing them as well

Do engage, nod and smile where possible, but don’t over do it

Why do you want this job?
What things do you not like to do?
How would your friends describe you?
Do shake hands again when you leave
Do thank the interviewer(s) for their time

• It’s an interview not an interrogation – MAKE SURE YOU SMILE
