PURPOSE



The IQ-ATR indicators define promising practices in
ten key categories that contribute to building a
successful, sustainable program.
Online Program Assessment Tool - walks the user
through a straightforward evaluation of the
program’s progress toward implementation of the
promising practices.
If the program does not meet all key indicators in a
category, the results page provides references to
relevant content in the Pass It On Center Knowledge
Base or links to other helpful Internet sites.

3.10 Sanitization of Donated Equipment
The program has written sanitization procedures based on sound
medical or scientific practice and that are consistent with the
manufacturer’s recommendations for the sanitization of
equipment.
Rationale: Sanitization minimizes the risk of infection for workers and
customers.
Key Factors for Consideration:
Donations are sanitized using:




Device-specific, written procedures
Tools, chemicals and processes that are consistent with the
manufacturer’s instructions
A work area that has adequate plumbing and air handling facilities
Workers who have received training in the use of the tools, supplies and
techniques to sanitize the devices properly

DEFINITIONS
Device Demonstration
Compare the features and benefits of a particular AT
device or category of devices for an individual or small
group of individuals. The purpose of the
demonstration is to enable a consumer to make an
informed choice.
Device Loan
Short term loans in which a consumer can borrow an
AT device for a period of time. The purpose of the loan
may assist a consumer in decision making, to serve as
a loaner while the consumer is waiting for device
repair or funding, to provide an accommodation on a
short term basis, or other purposes.

To be used as a self-assessment tool for programs
to identify specific areas in need of improvement
for program planning.

Statewide AT Act Programs.

effective implementation of the AT Act
requirements.
