of Romania, at 60 km of Bucharest,
at the flowing of river Arges and
Danube,
in the centre of the town.

THE SCHOOL HISTORIC
The school building in the year 1906, when it was the Gendarmerie Inspectorate of Oltenita.
Our school was founded on September 1st , 1910, during Mayor Constantin Deculescu, in a building that
belonged to the Gendarmerie Inspectorate of Oltenita, an Elementary School with three classes. In 1924, it is
converted to LOWER SCHOOL OF TRADES with 5 classes. They then taught elementary school education and
crafts: carpentry, wheelwrights, locksmiths and hardware.
In the school year 1931/1932 the school had 64 students and 7 teachers (4 supervisors and 3 teachers).
This educational unit operated continuously until World War II, when it disbanded.
Classes will resume after the war, but after the 1948 education law, the reorganisation of education, will go into
liquidation. The last two series, a total of 48 students will graduate at the same time, in 1953, in carpentry and
locksmith jobs.
Between 1970 and 1977, there will operate a School of agricultural mechanics.
After the earthquake of 1977, the school's main building was badly damaged and left derelict, will be
demolished.
In 1990, after the fall of communism in Romania, the school was re-named the School of Arts and Crafts and
currently the school group is called "ION GHICA".
Scholar Group "Ion Ghica" Oltenita currently has over 1,100 students.

School Group "Ion Ghica" Oltenita has a modern material, rapidly improving, as
follows:
- Two computer labs equipped with 25 modern computers connected to the
Internet;
- Other computers in the classroom;
- 1 workshop for beauty and health of the human body;
- A tailor shop;
- 2 workshops for the mechanical (automotive and Locksmith);
- Professional offices (legal road car knowledge, geography, Romanian
language, history, chemistry and physics);
- Pedagogical counseling office;
- School library with over 10,500 volumes;
- Gym;
- 1 LOGAN;
- Tools and various educational materials (video, graphics, audio-visual media:
TV, video, educational video films, CDs, software specialist etc.).

Classes:

The school
teaches
auto mechanics, but
small classes
(9th and 10th ),
training is
locksmith
practice.
Grades IX and X, the mechanic, took classes of
locksmith practical skills training. This has provided a
workshop at school, equipped with everything necessary for ownership
job (bench, kits, devices and controllers, drawings,
demonstration teaching materials, etc.), employed by foremen
with a great professional experience and teaching.

Basic profiles in our school are those related to mechanics, especially
qualified technician in mechanical maintenance and repair.
Preparation for this profession is in the school workshop.
It has all the necessary teaching material to learn how
to remedy any defects occuring in vehicles.

Textile classes are formed almost exclusively by girls, training
practice, they are available in the school workshop well equipped with machines:
electric sewing, embroidery etc.., teachers with higher
higher profile and experienced craftsmen.

Because we
have few
teachers
qualified in this
area, the number
of students
is relatively
low.
The material in this area is, however, excellent. We have a
hairdresser-barber shop, equipped with specific equipment and furniture
profession, including computers and digital camera software
specialty. Diplomas obtained by schoolgirls in these classes at different
contests are proof of training you acquire here
THE INFORMATIC LABORATORY
Besides the subjects and practical training in
our school, you can form a good general knowledge through other
classes stipulated in the curricula, including the following of IT.
Final year students have access to school computers to realize
graduate work.
OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY
Our school has a beautiful library, having about 10.500 volumes of books.
You can find here works of literature, of history,
science books, and other necessary books for the preparation of homework from the students
and to create a solid general culture.
OTHER CABINETS AND LABORATORIES:

romanian language, chemistry-physics.
PROJECTS IN WHICH OUR SCHOOL WAS INVOLVED:
European funded project, for textile classes in some schools in the country, called
"Counseling programs and practical training
for students in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South Muntenia "
