TERMS OF REFERENCE - SUMMARY

Promote, encourage and support research with all staff in the Trust.

Consider all research proposals received (following initial screening against the Research Management System by the Associate Medical Director), and make appropriate decisions with regard to approval.

Quality assure and sign-off research governance monitoring outputs prior to consideration by the Trust Research Governance Committee.

Promote and encourage a multidisciplinary research culture in the Trust and with other agencies.

Support the identification of research training needs of staff in the Trust and seek to ensure that these are met.

Liaise with outside bodies that have a statutory or advisory role in research matters. Monitor funding from commercial and non-commercial funders and ensure that all research funding within the Trust is managed to a high standard of cost-effectiveness and accountability to the public.
