10. Жизнь прекрасна (1997)
(Vita è bella, La)
The first half of the movie is a whimsical, romantic comedy. Guido Orefice (Roberto Benigni), a
young Italian Jew, arrives in Arezzo where he plans to set up a bookstore, taking a job in the
interim as a waiter. He feel in love with Dora (Italian, but not Jewish). Several years pass in which
Guido and Dora have a son, Joshua.
In the second half, Guido and Joshua are taken to a concentration camp on Joshua's birthday.
Dora demands to join her family and is permitted to do so. Guido hides Joshua from the Nazi
guards and sneaks him food. In an attempt to keep up Joshua's spirits, Guido convinces Joshua
that the camp is just a game, in which the first person to get 1,000 points wins a tank.
Guido maintains this story right until the end, when—in the chaos caused by the American
advance—he tells his son to stay in a sweatbox until everybody has left, this being the final test
before the tank is his. After trying to find Dora, Guido is caught, taken away and shot by a Nazi
guard. Joshua manages to survive and thinks he has won the game when an American tank
arrives to liberate the camp. He is reunited with his mother, not knowing that his father has died.
Years later, he realizes the sacrifice his father made for him gave him the chance to live.
9. Король Лев (1994)

Shakespeare play Hamlet, takes place in a kingdom of anthropomorphic animals in Africa. A
young lion prince is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne.
Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King.

usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the "Circle of Life". Written by King
of Hearts.

machine, the cover of Bunsha and Miloslavsky is blown and they have to fight off the palace guards,

films of all time (up one position from its 9th place listing on the 1998 list).
4. Леон (1994)
(Léon)
Mathilda, a twelve-year old New York girl, is living an undesirable life among her half-family. Her father
stores drugs for two-faced cop Norman Stansfield. Only her little brother keeps Mathilda from breaking
apart. One day, Stansfield and his team take cruel revenge on her father for stretching the drugs a little,
thus killing the whole family. Only Mathilda, who was out shopping, survives by finding shelter in Léon's
apartment in the moment of highest need. Soon, she finds out about the strange neighbour's unusual
profession - killing - and desperately seeks his help in taking revenge for her little brother. Léon, who is
completely unexperienced in fatherly tasks, and in friendships, does his best to keep Mathilda out of
trouble - unsuccessfully. Now, the conflict between a killer, who slowly discovers his abilities to live, to
feel, to love and a corrupt police officer, who does anything in his might to get rid of an eye witness,
arises to unmeasurable proportions - all for the sake of a little twelve-year old girl, who has nearly
nothing to lose.
Leon is a first-class hit man, but is also a sensitive guy who loves his potted plants. He is moral: "No
women, no children" is his professional motto. He is sympathetic to his neighbor, Mathilda, a typically
rebellious twelve-year-old who has trouble with her family. But when her father runs afoul of drug
kingpin Norman Stansfield, Mathilda turns to Leon for assistance.
3. Форрест Гамп (1994)
(Forrest Gump)
Forrest, Forrest Gump is a simple man with little brain activity but good intentions. He struggles
through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and
leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends
called Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, starts a table tennis craze, creates a famous shrimp fishing
fleet, inspires people to jog, create the smiley, write bumper stickers and songs, donating to people
and meeting the president several times. However this is all irrelevant to Forrest who can only think
of his childhood sweetheart Jenny. Who has messed up her life. Although in the end all he wants to
prove is that anyone can love anyone.
The story follows the life of low I.Q. Forrest Gump and his meeting with the love of his life Jenny.
The film chronicles his accidental experiences with some of the most important people and events
in America from the late 1950's through the 1970's including a meeting with Elvis Presley, JFK,
Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, fighting in Vietnam, etc. The problem is, he's too stupid to realize
the significance of his actions. Forrest becomes representative of the baby boomer generation
having walked through life blindly.

sanity, deteriorated by watching men live and die, Edgecomb is about to have a complete turn
around in attitude. Enter John Coffey, He's eight feet tall. He has hands the size of waffle irons.
He's been accused of the murder of two children... and he's afraid to sleep in a cell without a nightlight. And Edgecomb, as well as the other prison guards - Brutus, a sympathetic guard, and Percy,
a stuck up, perverse, and violent person, are in for a strange experience that involves intelligent
mice, brutal executions, and the revelation about Coffey's innocence and his true identity.
It's just another normal day on the Green Mile for prison guard Paul Edgecomb. That is
until huge John Coffey is sent there. Unlike the hulking brute that Coffey looks like, he is in fact kind
at heart. Whilst watching over Coffey, Edgecomb learns that there is more to Coffey than can be
seen.

RATING MPAA
This system does not incur function of the critic, it does
not define, this or that picture is bad or good. It does
not subject to its censorship, and only explains potential
dangers to children's eyes.
Now rating system MPAA looks as follows:
Rating G — General Audiences. All ages admitted.
All ages admitted. There is no content that would be objectionable to most
parents. This is one of only two ratings dating back to 1968 that still exists
today (e.g. most of Pixar Studios' movies, including the Toy Story trilogy and
WALL-E).
rating PG — Parental Guidance suggested. Some material may not be
suitable for children.
Parental Guidance Suggested - Some material may not be suitable for children
under 10. These films may contain some mild language, brief smoking ,
crude/suggestive humor, scary moments and/or violence. No drug content is
present. There are a few exceptions to this rule. A few racial insults may also be
heard. Before the creation of PG-13, many "PG" films (e.g. Airplane!, Terms of
Endearment and Nine to Five) included elements such as swearing and drug
use. Content such as this helped lead to the creation of the "PG-13" rating.
rating PG-13 — Parent strongly cautioned. Some material may be
inappropriate for children under 13.
Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children
under 13. Films given this rating may contain sexual content, brief or partial nudity,
some strong language and innuendo, humor, mature themes, political themes,
terror and/or intense action violence. However, bloodshed is rarely present. This is
the minimum rating at which drug content is present; with the exception of Austin
Powers and Click, marijuana smoking is the only illegal drug use that can be
depicted in a PG-13 movie, with the exception of Forrest Gump, in which a brief
scene depicts Jenny snorting cocaine.
While PG-13 films usually have more profanity than PG films, this is not
necessarily the case. A film that is given a PG-13 rating due to profane language
and/or racial insults is given this rating because it contains more of these elements
than a PG rating would permit, or the film contains uses of stronger profanities
than a PG would permit. A film rated PG-13 for "intense violence" is given this
rating if blood is present in a violent way. In recent years, this rating has been used
for the majority of American films released.
rating R — Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult
guardian.
Restricted - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian 21 or older.
The parent/guardian is required to stay with the child under 17 through the entire
movie, even if the parent gives the child/teenager permission to see the film alone.
These films may contain strong profanity, graphic sexuality, nudity, strong violence,
horror, gore, and strong drug use. Some R-rated films have an "unrated" DVD
release with scenes of violence, sexual material, or profanity that have been edited
from the original cut. At its inception, the R certificate permitted patrons aged 16
and older to attend unaccompanied, but this was raised to 17 in the 1970s.
Local authorities have the power to set a higher age (usually 18, but rare cases as
high as 21). On the other hand, in some places, the age requirement is not
universally enforced, or not enforced at all. This is the other rating that dates back
to 1968 and still exists. Movies that carry this rating include South Park: Bigger,
Longer & Uncut (itself a satire on censorship), Watchmen.
rating NC-17 — No one 17 and under admitted.
No One 17 And Under Admitted - These films contain excessive graphic violence,
intense or explicit sex, depraved, abhorrent behavior, explicit drug abuse, strong
language, explicit nudity, or any other elements which, at present, most parents
would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children and
teens. The NC-17 designation implies that the Ratings Board has determined that
due to the content of the film, it should be intended for adults only. NC-17 replaced
the X rating in 1990. Many films which received X-ratings prior to the 1990 change
received a re-rating of NC-17.
Many theater companies and local operators will not play NC-17 titles and some
newspapers and magazines will not run ads for these films. Most NC-17 titles have
limited theatrical release, usually in smaller theaters, or are released directly to
video or DVD. Originally, NC-17 stood for No children under 17 admitted, but this
was almost immediately changed to its current wording, which restricted films
certified as such to patrons 18 years and older.
