may need specific plans or programmes for Africa??

 Special provision can be designed for those
countries whose vital statistics is outside the NSO

Resource Mobilization
 At national level – countries need to develop and
share national CRVS plans and programmes

Need to provide some guidelines on the
development of the plan
 At regional level – a regional medium-term plan
already prepared and being shared
 At the international level – UN and relevant
international organizations need to develop and
share plans or programmes on CRVS, specific for
Africa

◦ Support countries participating in the 2010Round of Population and Housing Census
(PHC)
◦ Support Country Action Plans to strengthen
and revitalize Civil Registration and Vital

Way Forward
 Collaboration through integrated intervention
frameworks
 Avoid parallel systems and hence duplication
 Need for resource planning - assessment of
requirements, availability and gaps
 Ensure responsiveness and accountability
 Ensure availability of national plans and
programmes – pre-requisite and measure of
commitment
 Create basket funding at regional level
