Pass Information Review

• Discounted $4 tickets must be ordered by August 7 – directions are in Newsletter #3 • All livestock exhibitors will receive a State Fair Exhibitor Pin (exhibitor badge) – including beef, sheep, swine, rabbit, poultry, meat goat, and dairy • All other in person events will receive a one day pass – Including companion animal, dog, fashion show, presentations, and contests

Pass Information Review

• Getting your passes – livestock exhibitors and companion animal and dog will pick up their packets at the livestock trailer any time it is open – All companion animal packets that are not picked by the time the livestock trailer closes on Saturday, August 23, will be taken to Gate 5 and handed out to the exhibitors. They can then unload and park their car in general parking

Pass Information Review

• Getting your passes – All presentations, fashion show, and contest participant passes will be sent to the county – If they purchased additional discount passes, those will be included in the passes sent to the county – If they are exhibiting livestock they must pick up their packets at the livestock trailer – If they purchased an exhibitor pin (badge), parking, or BBQ tickets, they will need to pick up their packet at the livestock trailer

Educational Displays for Animal Entries

• 4-H’ers are invited to create a poster highlighting an educational aspect of their animal project • Posters will be displayed on the 4-H member’s stall or animal cage as a way to increase the educational experiences of both the 4-H member and the general public

Showman Substitutions :

An animal

must be shown by the FFA or 4-H owner who entered it unless the exhibitor is excused by the Division Superintendent because of serious illness, disability due to an injury (e.g. broken arm or leg) or conflict with other livestock classes in a 4-H or FFA show

. An exhibitor who has more than one animal in a class need not secure approval for another FFA or 4-H member, eligible to exhibit livestock, to show the additional animal in the class. A substitute exhibitor for an FFA animal can only be another FFA exhibitor at the current State Fair, and a substitute exhibitor for a 4-H animal can only be another 4-H exhibitor at the current State Fair. All substitute showmen should wear an exhibitor number identifying him/her as a substitute showman (available in the Livestock Office and/or from species superintendent).

Drug Withdrawal Affidavits:

Please remember to bring your affidavits with you for check-in. These forms can be found online at: http://4h.unl.edu/nebraskastatefairanimalinfo

Scrapie Tags:

All ewes, including market, are required to have scrapie identification, or they will not be able to show.

Shipping:

There will be an opportunity to ship goats, sheep and cattle from the fair. Bids will be available in the Livestock Office. Swine are required to be shipped from the fair.

Registration Papers:

Submit a copy of Breeding Beef & Sheep Registration papers to the Nebraska State 4-H Office by Monday August 11, 2014 –

Dog & Companion Animal Vaccination Papers:

These must be received in order for youth to show! Please make sure that your exhibitors send the forms as soon as possible. Forms are to be postmarked by August 10 th and can be found at: http://4h.unl.edu/nebraskastatefair4hscoresheets (under dog and small animals).

Livestock Trailer:

All livestock participant packets (including Dog & Companion Animal) with passes, backtags, stall cards, etc. can be picked up whenever the trailer is open.

• All livestock (cattle, goats, rabbits, poultry, swine and sheep) must check in at the check in trailer located in Brunk’s lot south of Stolley Park Road.

– All cattle, goats, swine and sheep health papers will be checked.

– All exhibitors will pick up exhibitor packet which include all parking and exhibitor passes.

• After exhibitor packets are picked up, move to the appropriate entry gate.

Poultry/Rabbit

• Enter Brunks lot from Stolley Park Road.

• Pick up exhibitor packet at livestock check-in trailer.

• Enter Gate #3 proceed to sheep barn • Unload on north side of sheep barn.

• Exit to the east and south out Gate #2 Brunk’s lot **Livestock Check-In Trailer

Cattle, Sheep and Goats

• Enter Brunks lot from Stolley Park Road.

• Pick up exhibitor packet at livestock check-in trailer; livestock will be health checked at this time.

• Enter Gate #4 proceed through cattle tie outs.

• Drive through appropriate barn to unload • Exit to east and south through Gate #2.

• Enter Gate #3 proceed to swine barn • Unload on west and north side of swine barn.

Livestock Parking Procedures for 2014:

All exhibitors wishing to park a vehicle in the Exhibitor Parking West Swine Lot or Brunk’s Lot must purchase a vehicle permit for $15. This permit must be affixed to the driver's side of the windshield.

No trailers allowed in the West Swine Lot. Trailers can be parked in Brunk’s Lot at no charge. No charge to park a vehicle or trailer in Luebbe’s East Lot.

Any exhibitors that do not wish to buy a permit for their vehicle or trailer must park in the Luebbe’s Lot, which is on Stuhr Road across from the Fairgrounds. No trailers or vehicles will be allowed in the Luebbe’s Lot until the second weekend.

Everyone will still come through the Check-In Trailer but will not be allowed back into Brunk’s Lot to park without a permit. You do not need a parking permit to unload your animals on the fairgrounds. Once you unload, you must exit the fairgrounds.

Presentations & Companion Animals

Unload Park • Presentations & Companion Animal show held in 4-H FFA Exhibit Hall.

• Enter through gate #5 with unloading pass,(off Fonner Park Road), unload from the west parking area and proceed into general parking.

• If you have special unloading needs, please contact the superintendent.

Livestock Release

• Release of livestock, poultry and rabbits will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept 1.

• Counties will be released at staggered times, please check the 4-H website or the livestock office for release times.

• Trucks and trailers will enter Gate #4 and be directed to appropriate barn for load out.

• Exit will be out of Gate #2.
