What we are learning
The Business Case – Our Place
• Starts at the Local Level where the fine grain of local
issues and demands are considered
• Starts with local residents and builds up – community
involvement is at the heart
• Focuses on what people need and not on predetermined issues
• Re-design of services based on deep understanding of
need and community involvement, proving the value of
the redesign over time rather than designing around a
presumption of immediate cost savings
Our Place Learning and Impact
• Data – Understanding the Spend
• Partnerships – ‘It Aint Easy’
• Communities – Want to be involved but….
Spend mapping, engagement, letting go or
disinterest!
• Re-inventing the Wheel – One step forward
two steps backward
• Changing economic climate, funding –
willingness to do…many stumbling blocks
