What should Pharmacists do?

Keep up to date with changes and developments (LPC)

Identify your local CCG and it’s leaders and work with them


Prove your effectiveness by delivering advanced services (NMS
and MUR) and enhanced services
Support prescribing interventions – the pharmacist is the last
professional to see the patient – so use that contact

Repeat prescriptions– how do reduce over
ordering and prevent waste/reduce risk
(reissue of discontinued medication)
NMS and MURs – good quality information
to optimise use
Palliative care – enhanced service to hold
stocks – important they are available
when needed
http://www.hampshire.nhs.uk/primarycare/pharmacists has details of services
etc.
Working Together


How to foster better
communication?
Pharmacy Services eg Minor ailment
schemes, Influenza vaccination,
EHC.
What do pharmacies want to
provide? Does it differ between
pharmacy groups eg multiples or
independents
