What is Fans Without Footprints? • A unique sponsorship opportunity that leverages the power of professional sports & the passion of fans to benefit the environment • The only sports-themed carbon offset program targeted at sports fans. • Fans are offered the opportunity, in association with the program sponsor and their favorite team or sport, to reduce their carbon footprint by making a monetary contribution to environmental projects in their local community. The Context It’s a scientific fact—we’re running out of planet. The technological and industrial advances that have improved our lifestyles generation after generation have come with a hefty price tag—severe and critical damage to our environment and atmosphere. What is a Carbon Footprint? Every person, household and company has a carbon footprint, which is the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), measured in tons, emitted into the atmosphere as a result of our daily activities. This includes driving, flying, using electricity and other activities that involve the burning of fossil fuels. These emissions, also called greenhouse gases, are now commonly accepted as being a significant contributor to climate change, specifically global warming. What are Carbon Offsets? Programs that allow companies and individuals to compensate for their carbon emissions by financially contributing to projects that aim to reduce or counteract carbon emissions. Typical projects include: -Renewable energy initiatives such as wind farms -Energy efficiency projects -Waste management programs -Forestry/conservation projects Bottom line? Carbon offset programs allow us to take action against global warming in a very real, tangible and immediate way. What is different about FWF? • Only carbon offset program that directly involves sports fans • Delivers tangible benefits for sponsors, teams, fans & the environment • Program will channel contributions solely to local (rather than overseas) environmental projects Why Sports Fans? • Huge global constituency • 80% of emissions from large events comes from fans traveling to and from the game. • Existing relationship between teams and their fans provides marketing platform for launching FWF • Program will translate fans’ passion into support for the environment and good will for sponsor’s brand Why Local Projects? • More relevant and compelling than hard-to-relate-to projects in distant, overseas locations • Local projects help facilitate connection between environment, sponsor, local teams & fans • Provides local marketing platform for teams and sponsors (events, community outreach, player appearances, etc) • Deeper community involvement raises profile of sponsor and team How Does It Work? • Sponsor commits to participate • FWF and Sponsor approach leagues and/or teams to create program platform & local activation plan and negotiate terms • FWF identifies local green projects in each relevant market to be beneficiary of contributions • Fans opt-in to contribute via FWF, Team and/or Sponsor website or sign up on-site at arena/stadium • The Sponsor and/or Team can offer to match funds and/or provide other incentives to participate (promotional items, exclusive prizes, etc) • FWF distributes funds to local project and monitors progress How Does It Work? 1 2 3 Sponsor signs on to participate FWF & Sponsor develop activation strategy with appropriate teams, leagues FWF identifies local green project to receive $$ 4 5 6 Fans opt-in to contribute via FWF, Sponsor, and/or Team website or sign up on-site at arena/stadium Sponsor/teams provide incentive for fan participation and create new community FWF distributes funds to local project and monitors progress What Does Sponsorship Include?
