Transport Order Management System
Rollout Management: Basic Information
› TOMS is a Transport Order Management System provided by SupplyOn. The system is
web-based and used to create transport orders, which will be directly submitted to the
designated forwarder as well as the Advanced Shipping Notification (ASN) message
which will be send to the Continental Automotive plants.
Target of TOMS
› Continental will implement TOMS
for all suppliers, all plants and all
forwarders working with us
› Continental will enable all suppliers
in cooperation with SupplyOn using
TOMS for upload of packaging and
article data, for creating transport
orders and the submission of ASN
messages
Prerequisites of TOMS
› In scope are only suppliers with
Continental as freight principal
delivering production material /
packaging material
› Every Suppliers which is in scope
needs to subscribe to SupplyOn
WebEDI service (mandatory)
Process Change
› TOMS replaces the current process
(e.g. notification of forwarder by
eMail)
› Suppliers with existing EDI
connections will receive the
DELFOR still via EDI

Transport Order Management System
Rollout Management: Basic Information
Situation without TOMS:
›
No standardized data exchange between our
suppliers, forwarders and the plants
›
Suppliers: Using different approaches for creating transport
orders to different forwarders for shipments to Continental
›
Plants: No / less visibility for plants about shipments
in-transit
›
Forwarder: Is getting pick-up information on short notice
Situation with TOMS:
›
Implementation of a central system as
communication platform (=TOMS) between suppliers,
forwarders and Continental plants
›
Supplier: Usage of one channel for all plants and forwarders
› Plants: More data visibility about goods-in-transit, packaging
data and freight costs
›
Forwarder: Support tool to improve Supply Chain processes
