Welcome to Grade Seven !
Welcome to Grade Seven !
Good Morning, I am Mr. Sneddon
Classroom Procedures
Mr. Sneddon’s Grade Seven Classroom
Battleford Central School
Foreword
• Welcome to Grade Seven. I hope you had a
relaxing vacation.
• Our jobs here are simple. I am here to teach;
you are here to learn. Together we will work
together to give you the best educational
experience.
• A positive attitude is the key to success.
Why Procedures?
• A Procedure is a way something is to be done.
• To do things correctly we need to follow simple
procedures. Here are some examples
– To open your locker, you have to select your combination as
directed by the lock manufacturer.
– To cook a delicious meal, you need to follow the steps in the
recipe.
– To place a call on your phone, you need to dial the number in
the right order.
So, to be successful in learning, you need to
follow some simple procedures.
Coming Into Class
When you come into class:
• Make sure you have all the needed materials.
Ex: Books, notebook, pen, pencil.
• Come into class quietly.
• Go directly to your desk.
• Be ready to work. Have your materials on your
desk.
• If the door is closed, please knock and wait for
the door to be answered.
After the Bell Rings
When the bell rings in the morning & afternoon:
• The first bell is a warning to get all of your
things and get to class.
• The second bell means class is starting. You are
LATE after this bell.
• Once the bell rings you need to be in your desk
with materials ready to work.
Start of Class Routine
After the Second Bell in both the Morning &
Afternoon:
• Find your way to your desk and take out a book
for a five minute silent reading starter.
When you see me at the front of the room:
• Stop anything that you are doing.
• Face the front of the room.
• Wait for further instructions.
During Instruction
• Listen to the teacher with full attention.
• No pencil sharpening, talking, or whispering.
• Don’t write anything during instruction. You will be
given time for taking notes.
• Ask permission to speak by raising your hand.
• Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions
which are not related to the subject can be asked after
instruction.
• After instruction, make sure you understand the
concept. If not, ask questions by mentioning which
part you didn’t understand.
While You Are Working
• Make sure you read or listen to the directions about
your work and understand them.
• If you didn’t understand, ask help from other students
sitting around you. If they also don’t understand, ask
the teacher to explain it.
• If you are asked to help, be polite and kind and offer
your best.
• Talking to each other should be no louder than a
whisper. The person sitting on the other side of the
room should not be interrupted by your noise.
• Respect each other and be friendly.
• Use your time wisely. Put forth your best effort to
finish your work on time.
Handing In Assignments
When an assignment is ready to be handed in:
• Your Name is on the assignment in legible
printing. Assignments with no name WILL
NOT be marked and will be considered
incomplete.

If the Teacher is at the Front
I will often say “May I Have Your Attention”

We will also have substitutes for all of our jobs. If the

Moving Around the School
When we are required to leave the classroom:
• We travel as a group. No one is to go off on
their own.
• We walk on the right-hand side of the hallway
single file. This allows others to get around us
too.
• We travel quietly with talking being no louder
then a whisper.
Homework & Assignment Due
Dates
Unless the assignment sheet or the teacher tell you all
assignments will be due the next day.
• Assignments with due dates will be due the end of the
day they are to be handed in.
• Assignments will all have a completion deadline of two
weeks past the initial due date. After two weeks an
assignment may be considered incomplete.
• Remember assignments with no name will not be
marked.
• Homework checks will be done from time to time.

• Missing or misplaced assignments Will Not be
freely replaced.
• If you have lost an assignment ask one of your
classmates for the assignment sheet and copy it
out on loose leaf.
• You may ask the teacher for a replacement
assignment and it will be replaced for the cost of
one act of service for each lost assignment.

items on the bus they are to be stored in your backpack in your
locker and not in your desk.
• If you choose to use any of the above items during school time
you will be asked to surrender the item to the teacher and it will
be returned at the end of the day. Should you choose to use
them again the items will be sent to the office.
• The use of personal devices will be set by each individual subject
teacher. You will be expected to abide by the requests of the
subject teacher.
Communication Home
When it is necessary to communicate home please make
arrangements in advance to do so. You may ask for permission to
use the classroom phone. You may also ask permission to use you
personal devices to send messages home. However, this will be
done at breaks in the classroom and I or another adult must be
present while you are sending a text or making a cell phone call
home.
When a parent or another adult needs to reach you in class it is
preferable that they call at lunch. I would prefer not to have
students taking personal calls during class. If a parent needs to send
a text then you may ask permission to check your phone at break.
Who Are My Teachers?
You will have quite a few different teachers this year.
Here is a list:
Ms. Rowley – Math
Miss. Samborski – French
Mr. Ursaki – Band
Mr. Sneddon – English Language Arts, Health, Social Studies,
Technology, Art, Career Ed.
Mrs. Germann – Science
Mrs. Nelson – Phys-Ed

Expectation for and of Other
Teachers
You will be required to work with many other teachers this year and
that will be a challenge.
• Treat all other teachers and adults in the building with respect
and you will be respected.
• The expectations and rules of other teachers may be different
from my own but they are to be followed with no exceptions.
• Any consequences given by other teachers will be upheld by me.
I will not tell you it’s “OK” if you did something to upset
another teacher.
• We as teachers all talk with one another about what happens in
the classroom so we will all know if something needs to be dealt
with.
• Disrespect of other teachers and adults WILL NOT be
tolerated in any way and will be given appropriate consequences.
Consequences
Should you disregard the expectations set out for you:
• You will be reminded TWICE to stop the disruption.
After that you will be asked to leave class.
• Detention. Including acts of service.
• Phone Call home to parents.
• Interview with parents and student to discuss the issue.
• Referral to the office for further consequences that may
include further detention or suspension depending on
the severity of the infraction.
A Recipe for a Good Year
The End of a long list and you are thinking “I’ll
never remember all this”. We will review and
practice things from time to time and they will
become like a reflex.
Take the time to review this every once and a
while and you will find that this year will be very
enjoyable.
