 Put
verb in 3rd person singular form
• (él/ella/usted)
 Example:
• Hablar – habla = speak
• Correr – corre = run
• Escribir – escribe = write

Hacer – haz – make/do
Ir – ve - go
Poner – pon - put
Salir – sal - leave
Ser – sé - be
Tener – ten - have
Venir – ven - come
 Step
1: put verb in “yo” form
 Step 2: drop the “o” and add the opposite “tú”
ending
• AR ending = es
• ER/IR ending = as

Example:
• Hablar – hablo – o + es = no hables
• Correr – corro – o + as = no corras
• Escribir – escribo – o + as = no escribas
*irregular “yo” forms
• No pongas = don’t put
• No digas = don’t
say/tell
• No tengas = don’t have
• No vengas = don’t
come
• No hagas = don’t do/
make
• No salgas = don’t leave
• No sigas = don’t follow
• No traigas = don’t bring
*irregular verbs (no “yo”
ending)




Dar – no des = don’t give
Estar – no estés = don’t be
Ir – no vayas = don’t go
Ser – no seas = don’t be



Attach pronoun to the end of affirmative/positive command
Example:
• Cruza el parque (lo)  crúzalo (cru-zar)
= cross it
• Termina la tarea (la)  termínala (ter-mi-nar) = finish it
• Come el cereal (lo)  cómelo (co-mer) = eat it
Put the direct object pronoun in front of a negative command
• No lo uses – don’t use it
• No la termines - don’t finish it
• No lo comas – don’t eat it
