THE BRAIN Temporal Lobe Is responsible for the smelling the unpleasant smell during the complex seizure. Parietal Lobe The shaking and convulsing during the seizure is controlled by the motor Cortex. Frontal Lobe The Cerebral Cortex in the Frontal Lobe is responsible for consciousness and Complex Seizures. NORMAL VS EPILEPTIC CAUSES OF EPILEPSY Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders Experts often still cannot not explain exactly how or why the disease develops. It occurs because of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. CAUSES OF EPILEPSY Epilepsy may result from anything that disrupts the brains natural circuitry. Examples Stroke Brain infection or disease Severe head injury Oxygen deprivation *Nearly two-thirds of people never actually find out the cause. (CONTINUED) PROGNOSIS Remission Children who have Cerebral Palsy and Mental Retardation have a lower probability of remission. Also comes along with a higher mortality rate.
