The Castle Challenge!
Will you win back your rightful
place on the times table throne?
The evil King of Calculatorum has stolen the crown to
the Times Table kingdom.
The only way to win back the crown is to use
spectacular times table knowledge! This will
prove that you are the rightful heir to the
throne.
To become a knight you will first have to
complete the challenge laid down by your
ancient ancestors.
You will have to prove your superior
knowledge of the 2 times table
Your ancient ancestors stated that simply
knowing your 2 times table is not enough!
You must prove to them that
your brain is quick and nimble!
If you complete the 2 times table in the given time
limit minutes you will become……
A knight of the TIMES
table….
You will receive a special badge so that everyone will
know that you are one of the chosen ones to fight the
evil King!
The time limits…….

Year 1 – 2 minutes
Year 2 – 1 min 30 secs
Year 3 – 1 minute
Year 4 – 30 seconds
Years 5 and 6 – 15 seconds
Your first challenge is to battle the water
monsters in the castle’s moat.
Your weapons are the 2, 5, and 10 times
tables – only perfect knowledge of these
will aid you through the stagnant waters
and up to the outer walls of the castle.
The Portcullis
Your next challenge is the portcullis.
It is heavily protected by the evil King’s guards.
You will need expert knowledge of the 2, 3, 4, 5,
and 10 times tables. You will need to use these
skills with speed and confidence in
order to out wit the guards at the
portcullis!
The Tower!
Next you will need to climb the tower in
order to get up to the battlements.
The 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10 times tables will be your
climbing skills. They will provide you with the
strength and agility you will need in order to get
up the steep walls of the towers.
The Battlements!
You now have to win your way past the
guards on the battlements.
Your weapons are the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
and 11 times tables. You will need to use these
with accuracy and precision in order to battle
your way past the guards.
The Prince and Princess
So now you are past the battlements!
Congratulations…. You have almost reached
the rooms of the Prince and Princess.
You must capture their crowns before you can go
on to claim the crown of King Calculatorum and
win back what is rightfully yours.
The Challenge of the Prince and Princess
• Before you can capture the King or Queen of the castle
you must capture the crowns of the Prince and Princess.
• Remember they are the children of King Calculatorum
therefore they have expert knowledge of all of the times
tables from 2 all the way up to 12!
You must know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
and 12 times tables to capture the crowns of the
Prince and Princess!
• Now you are ready to do battle with the King
to win back your crown!
But wait…… it looks like he knew you
were coming, he has employed some of the
country’s best warriors to guard him. Not
even your expert times table knowledge will
help you now…. You need something
more…..
You now need to be the fastest
knight in the kingdom.
Remember who ever is the fastest
will win the crown!
King of the Castle
Speed and agility will be your weapon against the
evil King, it will be your noble steed, it will be
your strength and your wit.
Your quickest multiplication skills are the only
way to usurp King Calculatorom and capture
the crown!
Once you have achieved the crown ensure
that you wear it with pride.
Everyone will know you are the rightful
King or Queen in the Times Table
Kingdom!
