Common Core
Rational is to make all students college/career
ready by grade 12
Emphasis is on student-centered learning where
the teacher is serving as the facilitator
A deeper understanding which sets a firm
foundation for students (It may seem slow at times,
however, every step of learning is essential to
proper development. In the past, students have
had gaps in their learning due to a weak
foundation.)
Stressed importance on listening/speaking by
having meaningful conversations.
In Math students will still need to be fluent in math
facts but we will be teaching several strategies for
learning them.
