Latin II Lesson 12: The Imperfect Subjunctive

The Imperfect Subjunctive

• The imperfect tense is the second tense that we will study using the subjunctive mood. It is one of four tenses that make up the subjunctive. It can be active or passive.

• Only the present tense uses the mnemonic device, “we beat a liar”.

• To form a subjunctive, imperfect form, find the second principal part (whole) and add to the end m, s, t, mus, tis, nt if it is active, or r, ris, tur, mur, mini, ntur. There are no exceptions to this rule.
