Background to developments
• March 2007 – publication of The Adult ESOL Strategy for Scotland
• Summer 2007 – start of qualification development process
• Funding for developments provided by Scottish Government, ESF
and SQA
• Results of work led to the development of three national
qualifications for TESOL practitioners

Two mandatory Units:
1. F43X 33 Language and Learning in ESOL, SCQF 6, 1 credit
2. F43W 33 Developing ESOL Tutoring Skills, SCQF 6, 1 credit

A first stage qualification aimed at current or future volunteers and
tutor assistants

Appropriate for Voluntary sector, Community Learning and
Development and others working with ESOL learners
