Five years ago we set
ourselves the target of
achieving:
1.30%+ at five Credit
passes.( 25%- was typical)
2.10%+ at five Higher passes
in S5.(4%- was typical)
3.20%+ at three Higher
passes in S5 (18%+ was
typical)
We have now consistently
achieved our targets for the
past three years and more.
Our results in these areas
are consistently better than
our PIPS predictions.
Reaching The Next Level
We have the potential to achieve our new targets:

40%+ at 5+ National 5 by end of S4

85%+ at 5+ National 4 by the end of S4

95%+ at 5+ National 3 by the end of S4

13%+ at 5+ National 6 by end of S5

30%+ at 3+ National 6 by end of S5

55%+ at 1+ National 6 by the end of S5
Consistently strong performance within quite narrow
parameters on a yearly basis.
What Else Do We Need To DO?
• Fully review and focus on effective teaching and learning
strategies. How we teach is every bit as important as what
we teach.
• Ensure that all target setting, monitoring and mentoring
systems are fully reviewed and operated effectively.
• Try to reduce development time demands for new courses
and exams and time spent outside of the classroom by
individual teachers.
• Ensure that testing adds to the learning experience and
does not detract from it. National 5 testing was difficult last
year.
• Ensure that our expectations and practices in S1 to S3 are
appropriately demanding of our students as we build
towards the Senior Phase. .
• Keep developing our academic performance as part of the
development of the potential of the new school.

S4 Core
Shown above are two possible combined senior phase model. We are
keen to explore these possibilities.
Our objective is to maximise access to National 3 to National 5 courses
across the Senior Years.
S4 Students attempting National 6 would be a possibility.
Other Significant Developments
• Engineering course delivered with Fife College
and industry partner.
• GAP vocational provision within S4.
• Skills for Work courses within S4.
• Front of House Team and School Productions.
• First Chances and Nuffield courses each year.
• Career Academy Approach coming soon.
• Co-operative approach to delivering the wider
curriculum and the AHS Co-operative trust fund.
• RAFA model of Q.I. to be developed.
Concluding Statement
• The curriculum for excellence has already delivered a
great deal of change to the educational provision of
Auchmuty H.S.
• We continue to evolve the academic provision to
fully deliver a BGE followed by a true Senior Phase.
• Literacy, Numeracy, HWB and IDL are key themes
across each faculty.
• Wider partnerships across the local community are
seen as a vital part of our provision.
• How we teach as well as what we teach is the key
theme of our school based C.P.D. for this year.
