本課第一個句型為複習從屬子句because +
S + V...和介系詞片語because of + N互換的
用法。
對學生而言，容易混淆的是because後面接
完整子句，但because of後接名詞或名詞片
語的概念。
在改寫過程中，關鍵的訣竅便在於
找出與動詞或形容詞相對應的名詞
(1)若動詞為be動詞時，通常是直接把主詞與
be動詞拿掉，保留後面的名詞。
Because+there+be+N…
Because(+there+be)+N
例: Because there were terrible floods, the
villagers had to move to a higher place.
→ Because of terrible floods, the villagers had
to move to a higher place.
(2) 去掉主詞。有時主詞會改為所有格，端視
個別句子情況斟酌。並在名詞前面加上冠詞
或所有格。
Because +S+be+N…..
Because of +the/所有格+N
例 Because you helped me, I was able to finish
the work on time.
→ Because of your help, I was able to finish the
work on time.
(3)將動詞名詞化，找出與動詞或形容詞意
義相對應的名詞。例如pollute的名詞是
pollution。
例 Because the water is polluted, we can’t
swim in the river again.
→ Because of water pollution, we can’t swim
in the river again.
(4)將形容詞名詞化，找出形容詞意義相對
應的名詞。例如形容詞late的名詞為
lateness等。
例 Cathy was angry because her boyfriend
was late.
→ Cathy was angry because of her
boyfriend’s lateness.
(5)若有副詞修飾動詞，一律將副詞改為
形容詞來修飾名詞。
Because + S + V +Adv….
Because of + Adj + N….
例 Because it rains heavily outside, I don’t
want to eat out.
→ Because of the heavy rain outside, I
don’t want to eat out.
