Annual Conference
Waterkeeper Alliance’s Annual Conference is the
largest gathering of Waterkeeper advocates,
which now number over 240 Waterkeeper
programs across 26 countries.
Our local co-hosts are the Poudre Riverkeeper,
Colorado Riverkeeper, Alamosa Riverkeeper,
and the Roaring Fork Waterkeeper. This
conference will also provide an opportunity for
these organizations to showcase their important
regional and local work to a variety of audiences.
Boulder is the ideal setting to convene for four
days of training workshops, inspiring speakers
and networking to help Waterkeeper members
and affiliates learn and strategize about vital
watershed issues such as climate change
mitigation, stormwater pollution, water diversions,
and much more.

Local Issues
The Colorado River is the primary water supply for millions of people in Western States
and Mexico, and this crucial watershed is currently inundated by thousands of proposed
oil and gas wells, tar sands, oil shale and other dirty energy projects. Many of these
projects threaten to pollute precious water supplies and habitat for thousands of species
of fish and wildlife.
Conference
Goals
 Provide a superior team leadership training
experience for lead staff, volunteers, and board
members of citizen-led local watershed groups
 Increase the expertise level of participants in key
advocacy efforts including issue campaign
strategies and regional planning and organizing
 Heighten awareness regarding the issues
threatening the Colorado River watershed such as
dirty energy projects, water diversions, and climate
change.
