What is Credit When It’s Due (CWID)?


$500,000 Lumina funded grant aimed at
increasing degree completion
Commonly referred to as reverse transfer

The Credit When It's Due project is designed to provide
MnSCU colleges and universities with pre-analyzed lists of
students who appear to be eligible for Associate in Arts
degrees.
The candidate pool includes students who earned a minimum
of 12 credits at a MnSCU college before transferring to a
MnSCU university during fall 2008-2012.


Approximately 11,800 students
An additional candidate pool has been identified of students
who transferred to the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities
and have completed the MnTC.

Approximately 300-400 students?

Each institution receives a pre-analyzed list of students
who appear to be eligible for the degree
Lists contain the following information:
Goal areas completed at college
 Goal areas completed at university
 Goal areas/requirements outstanding
 Last term the student was enrolled
 Where the student was last enrolled
 Where the student has/can meet residency
 Substitutions or waivers-if applicable
 Concerns related to encoding inconsistencies
 Recommendation for degree conferral/MnTC completion

Encoding Inconsistencies

Common reasons for inconsistencies:
 outdated
TA tables
 not rejecting goal areas on equivalent courses
 differences in transfer of non-MnSCU courses
 not utilizing the EMNTC audit



Recommendation for Degree Conferral

Lists of students deemed eligible will be sent to
institutions to:

 consult with students concerning awarding of degree
 confer degrees when applicable


degree requirements

applicable, passed to university for AA degree conferral
