Goals Worksheet
“Smart plan? Bad plan?"
 This year I'm going to stop smoking.
 This year I want to buy my own house.
 This year I want to speak
better English.
“Smart plan? Bad plan?"
Bad Plan: This year I'm going to stop smoking.
Reasoning: Does not explain the steps to achieve
the goal.
Smart Plan: This month I will smoke only 10
cigarettes a day. Next month I will reduce that
number to 5. By month three, I will only allow
myself one cigarette a day. By month four I
will stop completely.
“Smart plan? Bad plan?"
Bad Plan: This year I want to buy my own
house.
Reasoning: Is not given a realistic time
frame.
Smart Plan: This year I will save PHP
10,000 toward purchasing my own house.
"Good plan? Bad plan?"
Bad Plan: This year I want to speak better
English.
Reasoning: Is not measurable.
Smart Plan: This year I will read 10 books
in English and make a point to speak with
native speakers and keep a log of the
vocabulary I learn.
