What is it?
SEEMiS
• The organisation evolved from the former Strathclyde
Council where it had delivered an Education MIS
Strathclyde wide.
• At re organisation came to South Lanarkshire as the
Lead Council
• Developed and rebadged itself as SEEMiS
• In 2010 became an LLP
• Currently has 28 live members and four customers
including an independent school
• Remaining 4 councils have been approved to join so all
32 will be full members from 20-14
SEEMiS
• A hosted service based in Hamilton but
moving to two data centres in Edinburgh and
Hamilton (Caird)
• It is a development house closely aligned to
Education pupil and teacher records
• Data sharing is critical
• Shares with Glow, Health, Scotxed and SQA
• Financially sound
SEEMiS
• Why am I talking about SEEMiS
• It was broken and is in the process of being
turned around.
• Issues will cover going forward getting IT in the
circle. All previous technology information had
gone via Education. Lost in space
• Java and SQL
• Impacts on Interconnect, Janet etc
• Not PSN carried
SEEMiS
• Need council IT to be at the table locally to
make sure that all is delivered.
• Technical information that I have in next few
slides has gone to Education
• Should be a technical group that this goes to?
• Who should it be?
