• • • Introduction – Denis Wilson, Manager Information Technology, Moreland City Council Thank you for attending the conference over the past 2 days and also staying to listen to our final speakers My assessment is that this has been a wonderful conference • - the first under the banner of MAV Technology formerly the MAV LGICT Group We have listened to some fantastic presentations from the excellent • international, national and local speakers We have been privileged to have the esteemed IT thought leaders from the United States in Larry Irving and Shannon Spanhake to visit our shores and share • their experiences and thoughts on the direction for ICT exploitation in the future Shannon is conducting an Open Data Workshop tomorrow from 9:30am to 11:30am • for those who have registered Thanks also go to David Bartlett for once again doing a superb job as our host for the conference and being a catalyst for the panel discussions Please put your hands together to thank David, Larry and Shannon and all of our speakers

• The conference would not have eventuated without the tireless coordination and innovative planning by Lisa Bennetto, the Executive Officer at MAV Technology.

Casey is a very talented performer as we saw again last night but so is Lisa – just in a different field!

Please put your hands together to thank Lisa • Lisa was provided with excellent event management support by Julie-Ann Undrill and the team at MAV plus the Sofitel management and staff in providing their facilities for the conference, and the delightful dinner last night.

• Thank you is also due to our many valued exhibitors (over 35) and sponsors Toshiba, Tesserent, Lenovo, Thomas Duryea Consulting, ShoreTel, Acresta Wave1 – the awards sponsor Telstra – our principal sponsor Please put your hands together to thank them for their support • It is timely to announce the appointment of 2 new members to the MAV Technology Committee – Michael Foreshew, Manager Information Services, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Roger Verwey Manager Information Services, Hobsons Bay City Council but sadly announce that Duncan Kelly, Manager IT at City of Whittlesea is stepping down from the Committee after making a major contribution over the past 6 years.

Please welcome Michael and Roger and thank Duncan for his efforts

• At our next Committee meeting in September we will be appointing the next Chair of the Committee and we will communicate this information to you following the meeting • Congratulations to all of the winners of the MAV Technology Excellence Awards - there have been many superb outcomes for Councils - we all need to get out and communicate the wonderful things happening in Local Government in the use of ICT - and make sure you put in a nomination next year to recognise achievement Please thank our volunteer judges for their time in assessing the awards - Chris Goldstone, Stephanie Camarena and Michael McAllum • Don’t forget to provide feedback on the conference sessions if you have not already done so via the Acresta mobile app developed for the conference

• Finally I wanted to highlight some of the major projects underway and also alert you to upcoming events - Rollout of the food sampling app - Tender for a new M&CH system - Forum in November (location and theme to be confirmed in the next few weeks) - Review of current best practice in Paperless Council meetings - Review of current best practice in deployment of Public WiFi - Development of a Local Government Cloud infrastructure implementation plan - Development of an MAV Technology Strategic Plan for the next 3 years - Cameron Spence and his team at MAV Procurement will be progressing some further procurement opportunities for IT products and services Any ideas for new projects should be forwarded to Lisa or any Committee member – all ideas will be gratefully received If you didn’t get a copy of the Annual Report for 2013 just contact Lisa as she has spare copies Don’t forget to keep on collaborating through the MAV Technology Yammer site
