The Promise Of Salvation
John 3:16-17
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His son
into the world to condemn the
world, but that the world
through Him might be saved.
I. GOD’S PROMISE TO SAVE
A. It is an OLD Promise
Revelation 13:8
All who dwell on the earth will
worship him, whose names have
not been written in the Book of
Life of the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.
1 Peter 1:20
He indeed was foreordained
before the foundation of the
world, but was manifest in these
last times for you
Isaiah 45:22
“Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is
no other.
Isaiah 43:11
I, even I, am the LORD, and
besides Me there is no savior.
B. It Is an ONGOING Promise
John 5:24
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he
who hears My word and believes
in Him who sent Me has
everlasting life,
and shall not come into
judgment, but has passed from
death into life.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
everlasting life.
Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ,
and you will be saved,
you and your household.”
C. It is an OPEN Promise
Revelation 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say,
“Come!” And let him who hears say,
“Come!” and let him who thirsts
come. Whoever desires, let him
take the water of life freely.
John 6:37
All that the Father gives Me will
come to Me, and the one who
comes to Me I will by no means
cast out.
Romans 10:13
For “whoever calls on the name of
the LORD shall be saved.”
John 6:47
Most assuredly, I say to you, he
who believes in Me has everlasting
life.
John 7:37
On the last day, that great day
of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried out, saying, “If anyone
thirsts, let him come to Me and
drink.
Mark 2:17
When Jesus heard it, He said to
them, “Those who are well have no
need of a physician, but those who
are sick. I did not come to call
the righteous, but sinners,
to repentance.”
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God,
Galatians 3:22
But the Scripture has confined
all under sin, that the promise
by faith in Jesus Christ might be
given to those who believe.
II. GOD’S POWER TO SAVE
A. He Has the Power to
CALL the Sinner
Romans 3:11
There is none who understands;
there is none who seeks after
God.
John 6:44
No one can come to Me unless
the Father who sent Me draws
him; and I will raise him up at
the last day.
John 6:65
And He said, “Therefore I have
said to you that no one can
come to Me unless it has been
granted to him by My Father.”
John 1:9
That was the true Light which
gives light to every man coming
into the world.
Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow,
For you do not know what a day
may bring forth.
James 4:14
Whereas you do not know what
will happen tomorrow. For what
is your life? It is even a vapor
that appears for a little time and
then vanishes away.
Proverbs 29:1
He who is often rebuked, and
hardens his neck, will suddenly
be destroyed, and that without
remedy.
Proverbs 29:1
He who is often rebuked, and
hardens his neck, will suddenly
be destroyed, and that without
remedy.
B. He has the POWER to
convert the sinner
Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the
west, So far has He removed our
transgressions from us.
Isaiah 43:25
“I, even I, am He who blots out
your transgressions for My own
sake; and I will not remember
your sins.”
1 John 3:1-2
Behold what manner of love the
Father has bestowed on us, that we
should be called children of God!
Therefore the world does not know
us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now we are children
of God; and it has not yet been
revealed what we shall be, but
we know that when He is
revealed, we shall be like Him,
for we shall see Him as He is.
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion
over you, for you are not under
law but under grace.
Romans 5:9
Much more then, having now
been justified by His blood, we
shall be saved from wrath
through Him.
Revelation 21:27
But there shall by no means
enter it anything that defiles, or
causes an abomination or a lie,
but only those who are written
in the Lamb’s book of Life.
C. He Has the POWER to
Conserve the Saint.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son,
That whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
everlasting life. 17 For God did not
send His son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the
world through Him might be saved.
John 10:28
And I give them eternal life,
and they shall never perish;
neither shall anyone snatch
them out of My hand.
John 6:37
All that the Father gives Me will
come to Me, and the one who
comes to Me I will by no means
cast out.
John 6:47
Most assuredly, I say to you, he
who believes in Me has
everlasting life.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded that neither
death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor
things present nor things to
come,
39 nor height nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be
able to separate us from the love
of God which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
III. GOD’S PROVISION TO
SAVE
A. He Provided a PRECIOUS
Substitute
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His son
into the world to condemn the
world, but that the world
through Him might be saved.
Romans 5:6-8
For when we were still without
strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous
man will one die;
yet perhaps for a good man
someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His
own love toward us, in that
while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
B. He Provided a PERFECT
Sacrifice
Hebrews 9:24-28
For Christ has not entered the
holy places made with hands,
which are copies of the true,
But into heaven itself, now to
appear in the presence of God for
us; 25 not that He should offer
Himself often, as the high priest
enters the Most Holy Place every
year with blood of another--
26 He would then have had to
suffer often since the foundation
of the world; but now, once at the
end of the ages, He has appeared
to put away sin by the sacrifice of
Himself.
27 and as it is appointed for men to
die once, but after this the
judgment, 28 so Christ was offered
once to bear the sins of many. To
those who eagerly wait for Him He
will appear a second time, apart
from sin, for salvation.
C. He Provided a PLAN of
Salvation
John 3:16-17
Romans: 10:9-10
Acts 16:31
Romans: 10:9-10
that if you confess with your
mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God
has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and
with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation.
Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and you will
be saved, you and your
household.”
