First used in US in July 2010
Cheap ($20-50 per 50mg packet)
Users predominantly young and
male
Often coingested with marijuana,
alcohol, opiods
Contain ingredients similar to
ecstasy, methamphetamine,
cocaine
Contains cathinone in khat plant
Increase in serotonin, dopamine,
norepinephrine

Mainly supportive
Sedatives (benzodiazepines)
