Jasmine Laryea, the 2013 Buddie of the
Year from the Hillside “Project Learn”
After School program is:
A 1st grade student at AP Morris Early
Childhood Center, where her favorite
subjects are writing and math.
She has been a member of the Hillside
Club for one year, when she began to
attend our Project Learn After School
Program.
During Project Learn, she enjoys helping
her fellow members do their homework.
She is described by her counselors as
intelligent, respectful, and goal oriented.
When she grows up she wants to be a
teacher.
Anita Ojibe, the 2013 Buddie of the Year
from the Hillside “Project Learn” After
School Program is:
A 3rd grade student at Hurden Looker
Elementary where she is an Honor
Student and was awarded Student of
the Month for the month of Janaury
2013.
She has been a member of the Club
for over three years, participating in
our Summer Fun Club and Project
Learn Program.
She actively participates in all Boys &
Girls Clubs activities, especially in
Power Hour.
She is described by her counselors as
sweet, respectful, helpful, and polite.
Julia Ramos, the 2013 Buddie of the Year
from the Hillside “Project Learn” After
School Program is:
A 2nd Grade student at Calvin Coolidge
Elementary School where she excels in all
of her courses.
Julia has been a member of the Hillside
Club for 2 years, when she began attending
our Project Learn After School Program.
Julia is always willing to lend counselors
and other members a helping hand with
activities, clean up and snack time.
She enjoys participating in extra-curricular
activities such as kickball, basketball,
Jeopardy, and arts and crafts.
Kaylona Smith, the 2013 Buddie of the
Year from the Union Club is:
A 4th grade student at Hannah
Caldwell School in Union, where her
favorite subject is reading.
She is a hard working student who
earns A’s and B’s in all her subjects.
She has been a member of the Club
for 2 years when she began
participating in the Buddie After
School Program.
At the Club, Kaylona enjoys playing in
the gym, participating in Arts & Crafts
and computers.
When she grows up, she wants to
become a WNBA player.
Ciara Robertson, the 2013 Buddie of the
Year from the Elizabeth Club is:
A kindergarten student at Mabel G.
Holmes where her favorite subjects are
Reading and science.
Ciara usually earns B’s in all of her
classes and has received the Perfect
Attendance and Dance awards at her
school.
She has been a member of the Boys &
Girls Club since 2011, when she began
participating in smart girls, and Power
Hour.
Her favorite activities in her spare time
are dancing and singing.
When Ciara grows up, she wants to
become a nurse.
Jayden Nelson, the 2013 Buddie of the
Year from the Roselle “Project Learn”
program is:
A 3rd grade student at Harrison
Elementary School where his favorite
subjects are math, and science.
Jayden usually earns A’s in all of his
classes and has received the Principal
Scholar and Honor Role awards at
school.
He has been a member of the Boys &
Girls Club since 2012 when he began
participating in Power Hour and Torch
Club.
His favorite activities are jumping on
his trampoline, video games and board
games.
When Jayden grows up, he wants to
become a teacher.
Donovan Long, the 2013 Buddie of the Year
from the Roselle “Project Learn” program
is:
A 3rd grade student at Dr. Charles C. Polk
School, where his favorite subjects are
math and social studies.
He earns A’s in all of his classes and has
received the Perfect Attendance and Honor
Roll awards at school.
He has been a member of the Boys & Girls
Club since Kindergarten when he began
participating in Project Learn.
His favorite activities are basketball,
playing video games, and surfing the
internet.
When Donovan grows up, he wants to
become a pro basketball player.
Jakeim Keymell-Walker, the 2013 Buddie of the
Year from the Roselle “Project Learn” program
is:
A kindergarten student at Kindergarten
Success Academy, where his favorite subjects
are computers and reading.
He earns A, B’s in all of his subjects and has
recently received the Citizenship Award at his
school.
Jakeim has been a member of the Boys &
Girls Club since 2012 when he began to
participate in Power Hour and Triple play.
His favorite activities are playing sonic,
playing with his cars 2 collection and
watching movies.
When Jakeim grows up, he wants to become a
chef, astronaut or police officer.
Andres DiMatteo the 2013 Buddie of the Year
from the Roselle “Project Learn” program
is:
A 3rd grade student at Washington
Elementary School in Roselle, where his
favorite subjects are computers and
writing.
Andres usually earns B’s in all of his
courses and has received the “Student of
the Month” award at school.
He has been a member of the Boys & Girls
Club since 2010 when he began
participating in Triple Play.
At the Club, his favorite activities are Board
Games, Pokémon Cards and Baseball.
When he grows up, he wants to become a
veterinarian.
Janell Moore, the 2013 Buddie of the Year from
the Plainfield Club is:
A 2nd grade student at Irene E. Feldkirchner
Elementary School where her favorite subjects
are art and science
Janell usually earns A’s in all of her classes
and she is a member of the Student Council
at school.
She has been a member of the Boys & Girls
Club since 2012 when she began
participating in the Buddie After-School
Program, Triple Play and Arts & Crafts.
Her favorite activities are completing arts &
crafts, reading and designing clothes for her
dolls.
When Janell grows up she wants to become a
famous designer.
Ajanee’ Wineglass, the 2013 Junior of
the Year from the Hillside “Project
Learn” After School Program is:
A 6th Grade at WOK Middle School.
She has been a member of the Club
for over a year, where she
participates in the Project Learn After
School Program.
Her favorite extra-curricular
activities are singing and dancing.
She is very enthusiastic and is always
ready for new things.
Jalynn White, the 2013 Junior of the Year
from the Union Club is:
A 6th grade student at Burnet Middle
School where her favorite subject is
English.
She is a hard working student who earns
A’s in all subjects.
Jalynn has been a member of the Club
for 6 years and participates in the After
School Program, where she enjoys
playing in the gym and is a member of
the Torch Club.
When she grows up, she would like to
become a dancer / choreographer.
Jahyeer Pendleton, the 2013 Junior of the Year
from the Elizabeth Club is:
A 3rd grade student at Mabel G. Holmes,
where his favorite subjects are math and
reading.
Jahyeer usually earns B’s in all of his classes
and has recently received the
Superintendent’s Scholar Award.
He has been a member of the Boys & Girls
since 2012, when he began participating in
Triple Play and Power Hour.
His favorite activities are Football, Basketball
and Playing X-Box.
When he grows up he wants to become a
Football Player.
Dashaun Isaac, the 2013 Junior of the Year
from the Roselle “Project Learn” program is:
A 6th grade student at LV Moore where his
favorite subjects are science and Language
Arts.
He usually earns A’s & B’s in all of his
classes.
Dashaun has been a member of the Boys &
Girls Club since 2011 when he began
participating in Power Hour and Triple Play.
His favorite activities are soccer, video
games, and arts and crafts.
When Dashaun grows up, he wants to
become a professional soccer player.
Rashid Odoms, the 2013 Junior of the Year
from the Plainfield Club is:
a 7th Grade student at Saint Bartholomew’s
Academy in Scotch Plains, where his
favorite subjects are Social Studies and
Math.
He has been a member of the Boys & Girls
club since 2010 when he began
participating in Smart Moves, Passport to
Manhood and Club Tech programs.
His favorite activities are playing
basketball and video games.
When Rashid grows up he wants to
become a professional athlete.
Chidinma Chidozie-Nwosu, the 2013
Spirit of the Year from the Hillside
“Project Learn” After School Program
is:
A 5th Grade student at George
Washington School where she excels
in all of her classes.
She has been a member of the Club
for over a year, where she
participates in the Project Learn After
School Program.
Her favorite activities to participate
in are arts and crafts and Matball.
She is describe by her counselors as
creative, imaginative, and respectful.
Marlon Roberts, the 2013 Spirit of the Year
Award Winner from the Union Club is:
An 8th grade student at Burnet Middle
School, where he plays on the Saturday
basketball team.
He is a hardworking student who
maintains a B average in all subjects,
especially Math.
Marlon has been a member of the Club for
3 years, where he participates in the After
School Program.
At the Club, Marlon enjoys playing
basketball and socializing with his friends.
When he grows up, he would like to
become a NBA basketball player.
Aiyana Williams, the 2013 Spirit of the Year
Award Winner from the Plainfield Club is:
a 5th grade student at Saint Bartholomew’s
Academy in Scotch Plains, where her favorite
subjects are math and spelling.
She has been a member of the Boys & Girls
Club since 2010 when she began
participating in the Buddie After-School
Program, Smart Girls and Club Tech
programs.
Her favorite activities are swimming,
basketball and running track.
When Aiyana grows up she wants to become
a hair stylist.
JUSTIN PHILLIPS, THE 2013 YOUTH OF THE YEAR RUNNER UP FROM
THE ELIZABETH CLUB IS:
A 17 YEAR OLD SENIOR AT ST. MARYS HIGH SCHOOL. HE IS CURRENTLY PLANNING
ON ATTENDING UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TO PURSUE A CAREER IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
UPON GRADUATION.
HIS FAVORITE SUBJECTS IN SCHOOL ARE ENGLISH AND MATH.
HE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB FOR 5 YEARS AND IS A LEADER
OF THE PASSPORT TO MANHOOD GROUP; MEMBER OF THE KEYSTONE CLUB AND
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM INTERN.
JUSTIN HAS ALSO COMPETED IN MANY SPORT COMPETITIONS FOR BASKETBALL IN
SEVERAL STATES.
IN HIS SPARE TIME, HE ENJOYS PLAYING BASKETBALL, WATCHING MOVIES, AND
ATTENDING SPORTING EVENTS.
RAVEN ADKINS, THE 2013 YOUTH OF THE YEAR RUNNER UP FROM
THE PLAINFIELD CLUB IS:
- A 17 YEAR OLD SENIOR AT BARACK OBAMA GREEN CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL. SHE
IS CURRENTLY PLANNING ON ATTENDING MONTCLAIR UNIVERSITY TO PURSUE A
CAREER IN SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY UPON GRADUATION.
-HER FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL IS MATH.
- SHE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS,
PARTICIPATED IN THE KEYSTONE CLUB, THE INTERSHIP PROGRAM AND TEEN
CAMP.
-IN ADDITION TO ATTENDING THE CLUB, SHE VOLUNTEERS AT THE CHILDREN’S
SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL.
-IN HER SPARE TIME, SHE ENJOYS HELPING OTHERS AS OFTEN AS SHE CAN.
NATALIA RINCON, THE 2013 YOUTH OF THE YEAR RUNNER UP FROM
THE UNION CLUB IS:
- A 17 YEAR OLD JUNIOR AT MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL. SHE IS CURRENTLY
PLANNING ON ATTENDING PRINCETON UNIVERSITY TO PURSUE A CAREER IN
BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING UPON GRADUATION.
-HER FAVORITE SUBJECTS IN SCHOOL ARE MATH, AND FRENCH.
-SHE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB FOR 9 YEARS AND IS A
MEMBER OF THE SWIM TEAM WHERE SHE HOLDS MORE THAN 20 RECORDS IN FLY,
BACK AND IM EVENTS.
-NATALIA HAS ALSO COMPETED IN COLUMBIA, ECUADOR, AND CHILE AS WELL AS
MANY COMPETITIONS HERE IN THE US.
-NATALIA HAS BEEN A PART OF THE COLUMBIAN NATIONAL TEAM FOR THE PAST
SEVERAL YEARS AND HAS COMPETED AND WON AT THE PACIFIC CUP.
-IN HER SPARE TIME, SHE ENJOYS DANCING, PLAYING SPORTS, AND ATTENDING
SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
