What is the
International Day
of Happiness?
#HAPPYDAY
The International Day of Happiness is an
official UN day
that “recognizes the pursuit of happiness is a
fundamental human goal and the need for a more
inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to
economic growth that promotes sustainable
development, poverty eradication, happiness and
the well-being of all peoples.”
The International Day of Happiness takes place each year on
March 20th and was first celebrated on March 20th, 2013.
MESSAGE:
Take action to create
a happier world for
people everywhere.
#HAPPYDAY
As part of a global digital engagement, UNF and
fellow organizations will encourage followers to
make donations to support UN humanitarian
efforts designed to increase those opportunities
for the people who need it most.
Donations will be to the Central Emergency
Response Fund (CERF) page on the UN
Foundation’s website.

Musician and producer Pharrell Williams recently
released his new album, “G I R L” featuring the Oscarnominated song “Happy.”
Pharrell is encouraging his fans to post photos and
videos of themselves demonstrating their happiness to
his global #1 smash hit "Happy" with the hashtag
#HAPPYDAY and then register their submission
at http://24hoursofhappiness.com.
At noon on March 20 in each time zone, Pharrell will
spotlight the best submissions on the site. Fans are also
encouraged to use #HAPPYDAY throughout all social
networks.
