organizations. As a member of the Sorority community, your

 For the past 4 semesters, the All sorority GPA was above both the AllWomen’s average and the non-sorority women’s average

Costs of Sorority
Membership
Sororities are self-funded organizations.
Members pay dues/membership fees directly to
the chapter.
Dues cover events such as
 alumni/parent programming
 philanthropic events
 social events
 scholarship programming
 chapter house renovations/improvements
All chapters offer payment plans to assist
members in meeting financial obligations to the
chapter.

Range for 1st semester, of first year (based
on joining in fall semester)
$505-$882
Range for 2nd semester, of first year (based
on joining in fall semester)
$385 - $740
Range for Out of House Per Year
$712 - $1,562
Range for Living In House Per Year
$4,800 - $8,777.04 (Includes Mon-Fri Meal Plan)
Cost in Residence Hall + Meal Plan: $9,166
Hazing
Don’t they Haze?
 Sorority new members all experience a period of
orientation that varies in both content and length
among chapters.
 Hazing is absolutely forbidden by each Organization’s
and the University’ s policies as well as Illinois State
law.
 During recruitment, the potential member will want to
ask each organization specific questions about what is
expected of her as a new member.
 If you have any concerns regarding hazing please
contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life or the
Dean of Students Office (it can be confidential).
Housing
Where do they live?
Privately-owned chapter houses
IWU considers these as “University-Approved”
All have live-in House Directors
All have meal plans as part of the live-in
experience
All have Live-in requirements ranging
from 2 semesters to 4 semesters required
Beginning in 2014, IWU requires 6 semesters
on campus. 4 of these can be in sorority housing
