Question: What is the chief end of
man?
Answer: Man’s chief end is to glorify
God and to enjoy Him forever.
Glory
Glory is intrinsic worth,
substance, brilliance
and beauty
Psalm 67: 3-7
May the peoples praise you, O God;
May all the peoples praise you. May
the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples justly and
guide the nations of the earth. May
the peoples praise you, O God; may
all the peoples praise you…. God
will bless us, and all the ends of the
earth will fear Him.
The Exodus
Exodus 9: 13-14, 16
“Let my people go, so that they may
worship me, or this time I will send the
full force of my plagues against you…, so
you may know that there is no one like
me in all the earth.”
“But I have raised you up for this very
purpose,
that I might show my power and that
my name might be proclaimed in all
the earth.”
The Temple
I Kings 8: 41-43
“As for the foreigner who does not belong to
your people Israel but has come from a
distant land because of your name- for
men will hear of your great name and your
mighty hand and your outstretched armwhen he comes and prays toward this
temple, then hear from heaven, your
dwelling place, and do whatever the
foreigner asks of you,
so that all the peoples of the earth may
know your name and fear you…”
Isaiah 42: 6-7
“I, the Lord have called you in
righteousness; I will take hold of
your hand. I will keep you and will
make you to be a covenant for the
people and a light for the
Gentiles.”
Isaiah 49: 5-6
The Lord says, “It is too small a thing
for you to be my servant to restore
the tribes of Jacob and bring back
those of Israel I have kept. I will
also make you a light for the
Gentiles, that you may bring my
salvation to the ends of the earth.”
Isaiah 56: 7
“… for my house will be
called a house of prayer for
all nations.”
Mark 11: 17
“Is it not written: ‘My house
will be called a house of
prayer for all nations?’ But
you have made it a den of
robbers.”
Worship
Worship is that which glorifies
God by recognizing His glory and
honoring Him.
The Great Commission
The crescendo of the life, death,
burial, and resurrection of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
Daniel 7: 13-14
“In my vision at night I looked, and there
before me was one like a son of man,
coming with the clouds of heaven. He
approached the Ancient of Days and was
led into His presence. He was given
authority, glory and sovereign power; all
peoples, nations and men of every
language worshiped Him. His dominion
is an everlasting dominion that will not
pass away, and His kingdom is one that
will never be destroyed.”
The Great Commission
Matthew 28: 18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All
authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Therefore, go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with
you always, to the very end of the age.”
Revelation 7: 9-10
“After this I looked and there before me
was a great multitude that no one could
count, from every nation, tribe, people
and language, standing before the
throne and in front of the Lamb. They
were wearing white robes and were
holding palm branches in their hands.
And they cried out in a loud voice:
‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits
on the throne, and to the Lamb.’”
OUR GOD IS A MISSIONARY
GOD
HIS PEOPLE ARE TO BE
A MISSIONARY PEOPLE
HIS PEOPLE ARE TO BE A
MISSIONARY PEOPLE
 Abraham was blessed to be a blessing to all the
peoples on earth
 Israel was to be a light to bring God’s salvation
to the ends of the earth
 In the power and authority of Jesus Christ, we
are to do the same. We are to go and make
disciples of all nations….
 Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom
will be preached in the whole world as a
testimony to all nations, and then the end will
come.”
How then should we live?
We are blessed in order to be a blessing –
to others and to God’s Kingdom.
God’s glory is the primary purpose of both
our lives and of missions
Psalm 96:3 “Declare His glory among the
nations, his marvelous deeds among the
peoples.”
God wants each individual and every
church to be involved in missions
Prayer
Giving
Going
